Meet Peanut!  This Green-eyed girl is equal parts playful pup and snugglebug.  Peanut wants everyone to know she graduated from Elementary Dress-Up School with an A+.  Her mother, Twinkle, is the personal dog of our 10-year-old daughter.  Peanut is 100% clear on the genetic health panel, including CDDY & CDPA (more info on this below), which is very rare and difficult to achieve when breeding Cocker Spaniels and Miniature & Toy Poodles.  With these genetics, Peanut and her siblings will have ideal conformation. We expect Peanut to grow to about the size of her mother Twinkle, who is 10.5 pounds.  Her father is Tucker, an AKC Toy Poodle weighing 5.5lbs.  Peanut is also confirmed to carry the Merle gene although her champagne coat color hides her brown merle base color. She is vet checked, vaccinated, wormed, plus comes with a 1 year genetic health guarantee provided by her breeder.


Peanut and her siblings have also been well-started on socialization with bigger dogs a long with children.  Developmentally, pups only begin to understand inter-dog social patterns around 7.5 weeks of age.  We keep all of our small-breed dogs until at least 11 weeks of age for this reason - because nobody likes a small dog who behaves badly and starts trouble when around other dogs, then expects to always be rescued by its humans!  When small dogs are socialized with bigger dogs from a young age, they learn to pay attention to the social cues from other dogs they might otherwise be oblivious to.  We take pride in breeding dogs with sound minds, and great care with how they are socialized while in our home.  When you meet Peanut and her siblings, you'll experience and understand how special they really are.


Info on CDDY & CDPA: 
Chondrodystrophy (CDDY) is an autosomal dominant gene that causes Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), and can also affect the dog's height.  Dogs will two copies of CDDY will likely develop a more severe manifestation of Intervertebral Disc Disease.  Dogs who carry IVDD with one or two copies of the CDPA gene are likely to develop an even more severe manifestation of IVDD.


Chondrodysplasia (CDPA) is also an autosomal dominant gene.  CDPA is the gene responsible for shorter limbs in certain breeds such as the Basset Hound, Dachshund, and Corgi.  The presence of CDPA alone (without IVDD) in cockapoos is more of a conformational issue and thus a matter of personal preference.  Cockapoos who carry one or two copies of CDPA will have disproportional height compared to length of spine.  Like CDDY, CDPA is a dose-dependent gene.  Dogs who have two copies of CDPA will have shorter limbs compared to dogs who have one copy of CDPA.
