Nuru is THE South African Rhodesian Ridgeback. She is the PERFECT combination of each parent and was to be retained by us as our breeder, but being that we have her father, we see it best to place her in an appropriate home rather than risk an accidental breeding. This is our first litter of FIRST GENERATION SOUTH AFRICAN RHODESIAN RIDGEBACKS and final litter until 2017/2018 at the earliest. We breed for large, calm, intelligent rhodesians that integrate easily into their new homes. They are intuitive, intelligent, and very loyal; gentle with children and their families, protective and calculating with their measured responses to posed threats. They are companion dogs, family members, and bred true to their south african origins.

COLOR: Red Wheaten with a perfectly symmetrical white chest. She is a beautiful sunset orange color. She has a tiny spot of white that is completely symmetrical on her chest like her mother, Kabira.
MASK: Tinted muzzle that may fade with time. Her muzzle shouldn't fade out completely; it is likely she will have a beautiful tinted muzzle like her Mother Kabira.
RIDGE: Perfect ridge with symmetrical whorls. Her whorls are clearly defined, perfectly symmertical, and tight. Her ridge could not be any more PERFECT.
SIZE: Nuru will mature to a large, well-balanced female. She has heavy bones that are well within breed standard and her head currently looks more like her father, Chaka's, which we prefer, with her mothers larger ears.
DISPOSITION: Nuru is stunning in every way. She is alert and active, clams easily, and doesn't aggravate easily. She is very intelligent, taking direction easily, is very calm taking baths, submissive and well-adjusted. She enjoys interacting with our daughters and cats and is very-self-assured.
We could not be happier with the pairing of these two parents: both large, intelligent and quick to learn, intuitive and extremely gentle with children, with gorgeous conformation and coloring. These puppies are stellar and should mature to large, even-tempered, loyal dogs who will integrate into their family easily. There is always a range of personalities in each litter, as we view minute differences between pups as significant differences to ensure that the new owner is paired with his/her "BEST" puppy. If we do not have that puppy, we will try our best to help you find a reputable breeder who does. We are here for the new owner for the life of their rhodesian, whether or not you own a Khonvoum Ridgeback.
We are an EXTREMELY SMALL BREEDER, ONLY OWNING ONE BREEDING PAIR. These are our family dogs, chosen meticulously to ensure that the puppies are a true reflection of the South African Breed Standard (KUSA) and bred true to their original conformation, temperament, and function. Khonvoum Ridgeback Puppies are pets family members from the day they are born to the day they go to your arms, raised indoors for the first few weeks, exposed to daily life and children, animals, noise, smells and other stimuli that is imperative to their development and socialization. OUR PUPPIES ARE RAISED WITH CATS AND CHILDREN. Many new owners have other pets and are concerned that introducing a new puppy will end in disaster. Many of our rhodesians from prior litters have gone to homes with small animals and children and have integrated seamlessly due to their upbringing here at Khonvoum Ridgebacks. We are here at any time for training advice or any other concerns the new owner may have FOR THE LIFE OF THEIR RHODESIAN.
Our puppies are handled by our four year old from the moment they are born (literally, our daughter is in the whelping box with us and helps with the newborn pups, later spending her time relaxing in the whelping box surrounded by her new friends as they grow). For this reason, we have a very good inclination of which puppies are naturally "children" dogs - because not all puppies are. This is critical if you have very young children or plan on having children/grandchildren visit regularly.
