Havanese are natural companion dogs, gentle and responsive. They become very attached to their human families and are excellent with children. Very affectionate and playful with a high degree of intelligence, these cheerful dogs are very sociable and will get along with everyone including people, dogs, cats and other pets. They are easy to obedience train. This curious dog loves to observe what is going on.. The Havanese has a long reputation of being a circus dog, probably because it learns quickly and enjoys doing things for people. it is not their nature to bark a lot. Havanese are good watch dogs, making sure to alert you when a visitor arrives, but will quickly welcome the guest once it sees you welcome them.
Havanese are generally healthy and sturdy with relatively few serious health issues. They typically live 14 to 16 years.

absolutely gorgeous intelligent family companions from European Champion ( Hungarian imports )) lines with genetic testing for health done. very versatile people oriented dogs. all pups are born and raised in the house. they are well socialized to the cats as well as non mom adults. pups are handed every day of their lives. not just a quick hug but exposed to a wide variety of stimulus as they grow. they get the inside of their mouths and tongue touched to get pups used to having things removed from their mouths as needed ( while this is good for play and return on fetch it is much more important for the possibly of having to remove something dangerous like old foil and bones someone tossed out). Their feet are handled daily a few times extra with toenail trimming started young to get them used to it well before it is needed. They get brushed along as well as a few baths before leaving. Pups are exposed varied levels and kinds noises and movements that occur in life. we have the radio or TV on all day tuned to talk stations or classical music from added stimuli. Their play pen is also near the window and they really do watch the bird feeder. we start with crate training and pups will have some alone practice to ease the transition to your home. Our pups are very secure with who they are by the time they leave and ready for your to continue their teaching to be good canine citizens. nope - no quiet kennel for these guys as they are an important part of our lives. we are retired military and very much enjoy our dogs with a limited number of litters yearly as enjoyable hobby. While the rabbits and the chickens are nice they just don't pull the heart strings as well as the dogs. we offer a 1 year life threatening congenital defects warranty on pups as we are confident in the quality of the breeding and anything serious should show up by then.
