A special home for a special puppy
Penny is a 6-month-old handicap European Doberman puppy. She was born with her rear legs and tail not developed properly. It appeared that area was smashed into a tight place that could not grow properly. Her tail is a stub with a slight corkscrew on the tip. Nobody knows what happened, but she was ultimately born handicap. One leg was bent outward and the bones appear fused. We tried stents for the legs & other forms of straightening her legs and they did not work. As she kept developing and learned (very quickly) to walk, leaning to one side, it gradually caused her back to curl to that side. Because of that situation, we have not had much luck with her handicap wheels we bought her. We also have not had the time to invest in re-training her to walk using both her front legs and not using one back leg as a support. She can walk and slightly run the way she learned but she really needs to be trained with wheels so her back will straighten back up and she would be able to run.
We are looking for the perfect match to enrich her life and her forever family’s life(s). Penny will need a home where at least 1 adult is home 24/7. She will need to wear pooch diapers unless she is taken out periodically to go to the bathroom (she is very smart!) and just wearing diapers at night. Penny is a true European Doberman in heart & soul!!! Her guard dog bark sounds like a large scary guard dog in the house. She is a typical sweet, loving, Velcro, intelligent, playful, funny, all personality guard Doberman- nothing less but her mini size. Her deep stare into your eyes tell you she knows she is handicap and is thankful & dependent on the human bond and help. She has never let her handicap get her down!! When she falls over (it happens), she tries hard until she gets back up- with a happy face and starts playing again like life isn’t as bad as it seems. She plays well with any of our pets and has never tried to even chase our chickens. Penny would fit best with small pets that are not dominate and will not bully her or take advantage of her handicap and even with a handicap pet or person.
There is also a possible alternative of surgery which has helped some pups with similar handicap. One could even put up a “Go Fund Me” page to collect the money for her operation.
We will be SUPER SCREENING any applicants with 3 references and 2 must not be close friends or family> We will need proof of your legal name and address. Anyone with a hidden agenda like trying to get her for a pet snake or other animal cruelty purposes will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the LAW!!!!!
