Annual cost of owning a Spitz puppy

Before buying a puppy it is important to understand the associated costs of owning a dog. The annual cost or "upkeep" is often overlooked when determining a Spitz true ownership cost. When calculating your budget make sure you account for the price of food, vaccines, heartworm, deworming, flea control, vet bills, spay/neuter fees, grooming, dental care, food, training and supplies such as a collar, leash, crate, bed, bowls, bones, and toys. All of these items can add up quickly so make sure you estimate anywhere from $500 - $2,000 or more for the first year then about $500 - $1,000 or more every year thereafter to meet the annual financial obligations of your growing, loving dog.

What is the temperament of a Spitz?

The Spitz dog is actually a breed definition from an ancient breed of dog that was used to create many different breeds. They are categorized as Spitz-type dogs. The Spitz-type dogs are characterized by long, thick, and often white or light colored fur, and pointed ears and muzzles. The tail often curls over the dog's back or droops. The temperament of this ancient breed is hard to know, but if you look at breeds that it created such as the Akita, Alaskan Klee Kai, Alaskan Malamute, American Eskimo Dog, Canaan Dog, Canadian Eskimo Dog, Eurasier, Danish, German, Indian, Japanese, Korean and Finnish Spitz, and many other breeds you can see that the sizes and temperaments are vast and wonderful. Over-all, the breeds it created are hard working, loyal and lively.
