Expected Budget: Buying vs. Owning in 2022

Learn what to expect when researching the price of Sheepadoodle puppies.

How much do Sheepadoodle puppies cost?

The cost to buy a Sheepadoodle varies greatly and depends on many factors such as the breeders' location, reputation, litter size, lineage of the puppy, breed popularity (supply and demand), training, socialization efforts, breed lines and much more. Review how much Sheepadoodle puppies for sale sell for below.

The current median price for all Sheepadoodles sold is $1,475.00. This is the price you can expect to budget for a Sheepadoodle with papers but without breeding rights nor show quality. Expect to pay less for a puppy without papers, however, we do not recommend buying a puppy without papers.

Looking for a dog with a superior lineage? Are you trying to determine how much a puppy with breeding rights and papers would cost? You should expect to pay a premium for a puppy with breeding rights or even for a puppy advertised as show quality with papers. You should budget anywhere from $4,100 upwards to $8,100 or even more for a Sheepadoodle with top breed lines and a superior pedigree. The average cost for all Sheepadoodles sold is $1,600.

Annual cost of owning a Sheepadoodle puppy

Before buying a puppy it is important to understand the associated costs of owning a dog. The annual cost or "upkeep" is often overlooked when determining a Sheepadoodles true ownership cost. When calculating your budget make sure you account for the price of food, vaccines, heartworm, deworming, flea control, vet bills, spay/neuter fees, grooming, dental care, food, training and supplies such as a collar, leash, crate, bed, bowls, bones, and toys. All of these items can add up quickly so make sure you estimate anywhere from $500 - $2,000 or more for the first year then about $500 - $1,000 or more every year thereafter to meet the annual financial obligations of your growing, loving dog.

Lktpurr asked:
Do Sheepadoodle's fit in well with other animals such as cats?

The Old English Sheep Dog is of the herding group and the Poodle is one of the oldest hunting breeds. Both breeds are known for a moderate to high prey drive. However, if the dog is brought up and raised with cats as a young puppy then normally he/she can live together without a problem.

Sheepadoodle are gentle and kind but are large. When having them around other animals or smaller animals takes some introduction time. Usually it's the small ones that get nervous and as previous post states they like to herd. It absolutely can be done and lead to great friendships with some patience though!

Anonymous asked:
Are sheepadoodle shed free and drool free?

The Sheepadoodle is a mix breed dog between the Old English Sheepdog and the Standard Poodle.Though the Standard Poodle does not shed or drool, the Old English Sheepdog does both. So there is a chance when the two true breeds are mixed that the resulting puppies could both drool and shed. It all depends on who they take after.

Anonymous

My Old English Sheepdog doesn't shed.

Anonymous

It really depends, there's really no way to get around shedding with any dog. Sheepadoodle don't have a constant shed but usually about twice a year they have a period of increased shedding. And drool not so much but their beards can collect a lot of dirt water etc

Anonymous

When a slicker brush is put to a St. Poodle coat, a small amount of hair may end up in the brush. However, their hair doesn't drop to the floor like normal haired (shedding) dogs (as in Labrador Retriever, Beagle etc...) A Poodle's hair doesn't end up attached to your clothing. Our Old English Sheepdogs have a very similar coat to the poodle. Their hair doesn't "shed" as in fall out and get on clothing or drop to the floor. If you run a brush through their coat, you will find hairs - but it's much more like the poodle's hair than, say a Labrador Retriever's hair. None of my Old English sheepdogs drool - not even. However, they are often groomed leaving a beard (hair around their mouth and on their chin.) Those hairs will get wet when they drink and it may "seem" like drool. Poodles are often groomed with a clean shaved muzzle, so you don't experience the same. I prefer to shave my OES under the chin, but I leave facial hair on the upper muzzle so that they are still cute. the shaved lower jaw really helps with the wet face after drinking.

clack asked:
Can you tell me the main differences between the sheepadoodle and the goldendoodle? (temperament, hair-coat, affection, friendliness, maintenance differences, ect..) Thank you so much!

The Sheepadoodle is a mixed breed dog between the Standard Poodle and the Old English Sheepdog. While the Goldendoodle is a mixture between the Standard Poodle and the Golden Retriever. So the Sheepadoodle will exhibit behaviors, coat and basic temperament of the Standard Poodle and Old English Sheepdog; depending on who they take after more. While the Goldendoodle will do the same but for the Standard Poodle and Golden Retriever. I suggest researching the three breeds and figuring out which 2nd dog you like better, the Golden Retriever or the Old English Sheepdog before picking a 'breed' to go with.

My Sheepdoodles are very sweet. I think they are lap dogs.

Anonymous asked:
Do all Sheepadoodles have their tails docked at birth?

Anonymous

The Old English Sheep Dog is a breed with a naturally bobbed tail. So mixing it with a Standard Poodle means that some pups will have a tail and some will not. It is up to the breeder to choose to dock tails at this point or not.

Anonymous

They look better with bobbed tails

Anonymous

Old English Sheepdogs are not born with a natural bobbed tail. The puppies have tails that need to be removed if that is your preference. As a breeder, I have never had a Sheepadoodle puppy born with a naturally bobbed tail. My experience is that most people prefer the natural (un-docked) tail length.

Anonymous asked:
How do temperaments compare from a Goldendoodle vs. a Sheepadoodle? What are the big differences? Are they both loving, friendly and affectionate?

Anonymous

Temperaments are bred from dam and sire to puppy. The Goldendoodle is a mix breed dog between a Golden Retriever and a Standard Poodle; while a Sheepadoodle is a mix breed dog between an Old English Sheepdog and a Standard Poodle. If the parents of the puppy have a good temperament; it is likely that the puppy will as well. Main differences in the two mixes are that the Golden Retriever and the Old English Sheepdog are not the same breed and so breed standards on size, temperament, exercise needs and over-all work ability are different. The Old English Sheepdog is a gentle, loving and affectionate breed of dog that is very sociable. The Golden Retriever can be described as the same as well. The Standard Poodle is very loyal, intelligent and alert. They can be wary of strangers if not properly socialized as puppies. The Sheepadoodle mix will be larger compared to the Goldendoodle; as the Old English Sheepdog is a larger breed of dog, compared to the Golden Retriever. This mix would be a great companion dog and/or family dog as long as the right puppy is chosen, the puppy is put through obedience classes and its exercise needs are met.
