Im trying to find out what kind of dog was just dumped on us!  She is super cute and (of course) now has a new home because we cant resist her cuteness!  She is a tannish red color and looks just like  the pictures of chocolate labs on here...except for the color.    She looks to be 6-8 weeks old.  I know theres a good possibility thats shes a mixed breed but im just curious as to what she might be.  Are the golden labs darker as pups or are they all a blonde color?   I know that doesnt help much but I cant figure out how to add photos to the post!

Hm, I've never seen a red Lab.  Maybe you could post a photo on a photo hosting site and then link to it so we can see?

There are some vets that now do doggie DNA tests to identify what breed(s) a dog is.  There are also mail-in kits sold online and through major pet stores.  (Vets sometimes use blood samples while other vets and mail-in kits use saliva swabs.)  They vary in price and in method, so if you're really serious about determining what kind your newfound pup is, I'd suggest doing some research online to see what kind of test may fit into your budget.  Some only test for 50+ breeds; some test for 120+ breeds; obviously, the more breeds they test for, the more accurate it is, but also the more it costs.  But this might be fun and insightful, especially if it is a mix.

Congrats on your new pup!

Not sure that DH would go for paying to find out but ill mention it!  Im just curious more than anything because I couldnt quite place her but she looked to "perfect" to be a "mutt".  Hope that makes sense!  LOL

Here's a pic  Abbie

We took her to the vet to be checked out and treated for worms last week and she had to go back today and get antibiotics and some fluids...shes been one sick puppy but we hope shes on an upwards track now.  She definitely seems more perky and is more alert this evening than she was this morning.  He thinks she is a boxer...possibly with some lab mixed in (maybe because of the webbed feet???).  Her coloring is changing somewhat with darker tones showing up on her muzzle now so I can see the boxer possibility much more now!  I guess only time will tell though.  Whatever she is...she is a darling for sure!  :)

What a cutie!  She looks like she could have either Boxer like you said or Shar-Pei mixed in.  The first picture looks more Boxer but the second a bit Shar-Pei.  Does she use her paws a lot?  My dog is part Boxer (we think) and she uses her paws a lot.  She actually boxes with them!  That and her underbite are our clues to Boxer in her.  If Abbie has an underbite, that's a likely sign of Boxer.

Glad to hear she landed with someone who is taking care of her so well.  Hope she's feeling better now!
