We are first timedog owners.

We have a family of 6, all children aged between 9 - 15, plus my 21 year old son.

My husband is retiered, so we always have someone home during the day.

We are looking for a loving, family pet, and companion. A dog thats good with children, playfull, and affectionate.

My 15 year old daughter would be the primary owner, my husband second, however we still see it as a family commitment.

We are a fairly active family, atleast a daily walk would always be able to be provided for our pet.

The dog would only be left alone for a few hours during the day (1-4 hours)

We don't travle often, however with 2 children playing competitive hockey, we have at least a monthly out of town tournament, but we'd expect someone to be at home during these times.

Would a Boxer be a good breed for our family?

If not, any other recommendations?

Absolutely, a boxer dog is ideal for you. Not only they are playful, but they are good protectors of the household.
