PuppyMatch and 'alternate choices'

Does anyone agree that asking for  'alternate choices' on the PuppyMatch profile form should be stopped?

If a person is looking for a specific breed, leave it at that.  Don't ask for an alternate that they are not interested in.  That way, their profile is not listed under the breed they don't want.

Do you agree?

NDP, will you change this please?

When we originally launched the PuppyMatch service, we received a lot of feedback regarding this exact issue.  The individuals creating the profile wanted to submit the same profile for multiple breeds without having to retype everything.  In order to accommodate this request, we now allow the individual the option of creating a profile under 2 additional breeds.  This is optional, and if the individual only wants to create the profile for 1 breed, they are not required to make additional profiles for breeds they are not interested in.  If you have any other questions, please let us know.  Thanks!

Is it made EXTREMELY clear to them that the additional choices are "optional"?  I contacted someone just yesterday who chose Great Dane as an additional choice, but was not at all interested in Danes.  She was ONLY interested in Wolfhounds.

And that is where the problem is....the general public seems incapable of reading!!!!

Could NDP make it possible for us, the breeder,  to see if our breed is first choice or an alternate on a person's profile?  Then we can decide if we want to bother contacting them if our breed is an alternate.  If they don't want it, why waste time letting them know what we've got?

Within the PuppyMatch profile, we have added 'Main Breed of Interest.'  If this is set to true, this is the original profile the user created.  If it is set to false, it is one of the optional breeds.
