I have had this wonderful dog for six weeks. She spends as much time (or more!) than my cat did cleaning herself--her paws, her rear,...
It is not biting or fleas or worms--all ruled out by vet. Do havanese just have a penchant for being OC/exteremly clean dogs? She even avoids the grass , preferring pavement on which to relieve herself or defecate. Havanese owner/breeeder replies ALL welcome plz! Aggie.

She might be neurotic. See if she will play or do something different. SOme dogs get into the habit of licking from stress and then it becomes a ral problem when they actaully get "Lick Granulomas" from excessive licking. What else is going on in your dogs' life. You said you have only had her for a short time. Is theis an adult dog? There is a stressor. We need more info to help you. please. Thanks!

To properly train your dog you need to understand the following five key factors of dog behavior. The origin of dogs, a dog's memory, doggy language, puppy behavior and structure and enjoyment. Understanding these will greatly improve your ability to train your dog.
