Well, it's wonderful that you rescued them.
But people here have a problem with the breeders of the Scneagles and other mutts, not the owners.

Try edited under the listing of beagles. That is where we found our first schneagle to adopt from a rescue group. You may have to travel a little to adopt through Petfinder.com for a schneagle.

I know someone who refused to go to a shelter because they are nothing but mutts and mixed breeds there. She then went out and got a "jug" pup. (jack russell/pug)

Ummmmm.......hello???

Quote ZoesMum: Why bother saying anything unless it is helpful? People who read this site know that very few people believe in mutt breeding ... ?

Although I agree, it is obviously not helping...

I hear what your saying, and I agree we SHOULD be helpful. There is way to much drama on forums like this, it doesn't make for intelligent discussion or debate, it just makes for arguments.
Only a case of who can yell the loudest, we all know who the loudest are on here, well intentioned at times or not.

There are many people out there don't know about byb's and millers, and there's many people who think there is nothing wrong with it.

Every thread is a chance for education. Some simply choose not to educate but to scare them away so they can buy more byb dogs.

To the OP:

Please check out this site.

The Dog you are looking to purchase is not a real breed (it doesn't not matter what you have read else where) they are only a mutt.
No one here can tell you what your Dog will look like or exactly how they will act, because they are a mutt.

Sometimes these mix dogs are kept in deplorable conditions by bybs (back yard breeders) or puppy mills.
Both generally do not care about the welfare of the dogs they produce, many of them are sickly from birth, they only "make" these dogs so that they can get money, it's a business, that is all.

You can find many wonderful mutts in shelters and rescue groups, they usually cost A LOT less, and you may even have an idea before hand of how the Dog will look and act, and if it would fit will with your family.

I don't care if they are mutts or not. My schneagle was a wonderful Dog and I was just trying to find another one.

You are missing the point.

If you want your mixed/mutt Dog check out this site, (a lot cheaper too!)
http://www.petfinder.com

The point, is that many of these places that breed these mutts force them to live in terrible conditions (no medical care, filthy, sick, over all neglect.)
At the very least, the one thing they all have in common is that they do it for money.
They don't care about you, and sometimes (often) don't care about the dog, they just want your money.

Why would you support that..?
THAT is the point.

Mutts are great! I just won't pay (support) their suffering at the hands of inapt and unethical "breeders".

My wife and I are a proud owner of a wonderful "schneagle"! My wife has had great experiences with schnauzers and made the decision to adopt Otto. I must say he is the happiest, most kind hearted Dog I have ever been around. His tail does not stop wagging. He does bark quite a bit, and is sometimes a challenge to train when compared to Fritz our standard schnauzer. Otto can run very fast and has incredible endurance. I have only ever seen a few dogs able to out run him at the Dog park. Otto is a mutt, but he's a great dog! That's all that really matters.

yes yes yes I agree! If they love the "breed" so much, why would anyone support the ones who make them suffer?

edited to add: I also agree that schneagle (if i spelled that right) sounds like an awful name for a breed. Ick, it reminds me of pimples and cheese!

Hi, I am new to this site and was looking for peoples with schneagle just to hear what they have to say and decided to put in my thoughts. I have just been giving a schneagle from a friend as a thank you. She had not planned for her schnauzer to breed with a Beagle but life happens. It is too young to know its personality yet, but with love and training any Dog can be a great pet. We already have a half Beagle and half unknown Dog (Duke) that we adopted 5 years ago. Please look up the Beagle and schnauzers breeds behaviors and be informed of temperament for each. Beagle can be a handful. I am wondering if Deja our new addition will yap or howl...

does it really matter whether it's mixed breed or pure blood.as long as the pup/dog is healthy.people that maybe can't afford a pure blood dog.what i mean by this is $1,200 - $1,400 for pure blood vs may be $400 - $500 for mixed/designer.sometime people just want to rescue/save a Dog and this is how they do it.i mean isn't it better to get a Dog out of a mill and the like than to just let them sit there because they are not pure blood.i myself got very lucky and got a pure blood corgi from a farm near me.akc papers and everything.not from a registered breeder or anything but she is very healthy,no vwbd or anything like that.who cares about the name(schneagle) or what it sounds like.just be glad these people are willing to give a home to a Dog who might otherwise be put down.i'm sorry i got on my soapbox, and i wasn't trying to start anything but i just wanted to voice my opinion.thanks

Quote AngelZoo: I really must know.

Why do these random new folk ALWAYS pop up on threads where designer breeds are mentioned?

Is there like an armada of mutt breeders and fanciers that sit on the internet all...

You've offended me with you statements to other people not only your references to my statements. So, I have a mixed breed dog, a mutt as you enjoy calling it. I've had nothing but "mutts," and all of these dogs have been phenominal! They love just as much as your pure bred dogs. And if someone likes two breeds and someone decided to mix them, who are you to say anything bad about it?? Talk about sitting on the internet all day, I work part-time and go to college, so I have a lot of free time...

If I may... Mutt is not a dirty word and I don't understand why it offends you.

As for intentional mixing of dogs, the reason many people feel strongly against it is simple, millions of dogs every year in the US alone are KILLED because there are simply not enough homes for all the dogs already produced. MILLIONS of deaths. Perfectly good dogs that have do die because someone didn't spay or neuter their Dog or because they were greedy and wanted their money back from the Dog they paid for or they want the kids see the wonders of birth. Or they found out that people are now willing to pay purebred prices for mixed breed dogs because it fashionable.

Dog people will tell you, Just because you got a mix of two breeds that happend to turn out well doesn't mean that all Dog produced from the mix will.

Quote sunny11: anyone have any experiance with schneages schnauzer/beagle
not much info and new puppy coming

I have a schneagle and she is a little over a year old. She has some of the characteristics of both dogs. She follows her own nose like the Beagle but also LOVES people. Very mild mannered and always happy. She has a very unique personality and is a very funny dog. You will laugh at some of the things they do like hiding treats and trying to sit on your head. Funny stuff. Likes playing with golf balls.
