Quote Raggysmom: Thank You everyone. I am on the phone right now with my vet.. Like I said I just got her on friday...another question I have is why is she offering herself to my male?(no he aint fixed he is a stud dog)...

You are on the phone with the vet and you are asking US to answer your questions? Is there a reason your vet cannot answer them for you?

Did you make an appointment to have her spayed since you had the vet on the line?

I see no reason she cannot go in today to be spayed if you have no intention of breeding her.

Quote Raggysmom: ok let me set this straight..
She already had her Puppies before i even got her.. i know that they are about 12 weeks old or maybe less.. I am in no way a back yard breeder.. yes my male has been...

You want to get her spayed before her second heat? Then make an appointment for TODAY!!!! Why would you need to know when her next heat will come? That is an unimportant detail at this point.

Ok this doesn't seem right to me. On one hand you seem to want to give the impression that your only going to breed your stud once and then have him fixed. But on the other hand you are asking us to believe that you have spent the time and money to do all the tests and you are covering all the costs of the dame and Puppies too?

Please explain because I don't understand.

This thread has really piqued my curiosity. I was wondering exactly what types of health testing you have done on your male maltese? What are the health issues in your breed and what specifically have you tested for and what pedigree research have you done to make sure your Dog is not going to pass them on? As the other posters mentioned, sounds like a whole lot of time and money involved to only breed your Dog once. What is he being bred to? Another maltese? I hope that you have done extensive research (at least 5 generations) into every Dog behind your Dog and the female...just because they may be healthy does not mean they can not pass on crippling genetic issues to their offspring. There is more to breeding than just throwing a Dog and bitch together...even if they are health tested, if you don't know what is behind them you are asking for trouble. I am not sure why you are even thinking of doing this...sounds like your money could be better spent having both your dogs fixed and then just enjoying them as the companions they were meant to be.

I agree, something isn't quite right!
Health testing on a Dog is quite expensive to only be breeding the male once.
I don't understand if you are breeding your male with someone elses Dog how you have control over what happens to the Puppies & are paying all the vet bills. You said you had homes for all the Puppies before the female gets bred, how can this be when you don't own the female?

Hello everyone,, I am new here. and alittle confused. I have a Shih Tzu that is 1 year old.. I just got her last friday and I was told she had Puppies 10 maybe 12 weeks ago.. I seen the pups. when will she be in heat again? NO i don't intend to breed her I just need to know

UMMM, sounds like another "designer ugh I hate to use this word, breed" aka costly mutt in the making.

Nobody, and I will repeat nobody would invest the amount of money to have the proper testing done, and complete all of the research necessary for breeding, and only breed their stud once!! That is absolutely ridiculous.

I think that this whole senario that you have created is false and it is crystal clear in every post that you make, it is called a Froudian slip!!

And calling the dame a girlfriend??? Come on, seriously. JMO

Just so you know. I think that you are all stupid!! All you want to do is bicker . Everyone on here just seems to be a know it all and don't actually want to help anyone. I wouldn't ask any of you a question if I had to.

"I have been coming to this forum for so long now, and I am just recently seeing this nastiness. I totally understand being concerned for the pet population, and the deaths, and overrunedness (Hehe, I made a new word ) in the shelters, but by pissing everyone off in this way does no good"
I have to agree with this person, I was a little apprehensive about posting to this, but most of u vets have been slighty if not out right rude to us newbies, I know that some of the question we ask may be stupid to those of you have all the Dog knowlegde but this is also a place for us new pet owners to ask questions and become educated, I am sure that ya'll can't be this harsh on new first time moms and your friends, remeber most of us are here for advice on how to be a better pet owner, maybe not this person, but I am and I am sure so are many others!
