Hi, welcome to the forum! I am not familiar with "designer" breeds, I do get alot of them in the grooming shop, but I don't recall ever getting a morkie?? Is it a cross between a maltese and a yorkie??? I wouldn't recomend breeding them, there are so many dogs in need of homes. If you like the cross, what I would do is a google search, type in either "designer Dog breeds" or "morkie, designer dogs" and see what pops up. Don't get discouraged by some of the opinions that you will get in here. You can get alot of support though. But be a little tough skinned. Again welcome to the site and sorry I couldn't be much help!

yes they are a maltese/yorkie cross. my girlfriend just got her 1st litter ready to go...they are adorable little things and i would imagine they will make a great little pet...i cannot imagine how one could go wrong with the spirit of the yorkie and the happy go lucky maltese!!! both are built about the same and both are non shedding....good luck.

I just don't get what you people have against cross breeding. We all live in multi-cultural societies. So what, if dogs do the same? Maybe sometimes a cross breed is a healthier Dog than an in-bred, with all it's accompanying problems. I agree, and can't bear to think that there are too many dogs in shelters in need of a good home, but these so called designer dogs are here to stay now, so please don't (you Dog snobs) be so hateful about them. Perhaps breeding pure breed dogs is also wrong when the shelters are full.
'Cute' as they may be, cross breeds will never be in competitions/shows against your pure breeds, as they are not eligible to be entered, so don't panic.

Here let me Help.... MILLIONS of dogs are PUT TO DEATH each year because there are not enough homes for them. A large majority of those dogs are mixed breed dogs. It begs the question, DO we really need to keep making new mixes when so many are already being killed each year?

Well it seems to me, you and your friend could be one and the same. You admit you mix poodles and malti's under your friends direction and you also have yorkies. Two plus two equals four. The pinochio nose you posted is a further indication. If it smells like a duck and walks like a duck it probably is a duck.

To add further Amy to what Mao said, IMO an ethical breeder breeds to better the breed and also because they have a great passion for the breed. Their sole purpose for breeding isn't monetary gain. We already have enough problems with unethical purebred breeders and over breeding, why add to that.

I don't think too many tiny, cute mixed breeds are ending up on death row. I don't think small mixes are creating half the problem that Purebred enthusiasts and rescue fanatics are claiming. I just don't see it as fact.

I know people in many big cities wait and wait for small dogs, and as soon they are gone as soon as they come in.

So a breeder has 2 litters of 6 morkies that have loving homes. It's not the same as an accidental litter of 12 pit or lab MIX Puppies that most never find homes even as Puppies. Or just for the puppy stage and end up in a kill shelter as an adult.

The whole thing ISN'T if the Puppies go to lifelong loving homes. It is profit-- that is the only issue they see. There are a lot more Purebred breeders breeding for profit than mixed breeders.

Your theories have been discounted and denounced here and other places time and again. I am personally offended by your "if it's a tiny and cute mix it doesn't end up on death row" statement. You have so many different angles you use to justify what you're doing it's mind boggling, but many of us can see right through them. I guess some of us just have a natural feeling about the whole thing that noone needed to teach us. Years before I ever came to a pet forum when doodles became the craze it was very distasteful to me. The bottom line is you don't breed just to meet market demand..that is the wrong reason.

Explain to me how you not being able to grasp the simple concepts of neutering and breeding is indicative of me being bitter? And what exactly am I bitter about?
