To answer Pastandy Q... I used to love riding bikes..havent ridden a bike in years..infact our bikes are hanging in our garage at the moment.
Gbats Q... I enjoy gardening however most of our gardening in Phx consist of cactus. Most people do not have flower beds for annuals.. Typcially people use pots. Yesterday I spent most of the day repotting a huge aloe vera plant; gave some to my new neighbor who comes from NJ. I cant give this stuff away so I filled a huge leaf bag full and threw it away.
To Hoss, I speak Kingsville, Corpus Christi, Dallas, and Houston... I can pull off east texas too... People dont realize there are many different accents found in the state of Texas.. I have a friend who lives and was raised in the Tyler area... Her accent is so different from other areas.. instead of saying "hiiiii" its more like "Ha". ANyway youre lucky to have been raised in that area... you got the best of both...cajun food as well as mexican food.. Two of my faves.. I would consider my Paul Prudhomme cookbooks my cooking bibles. Fabulous chef! BTW, do you fry turkeys?

Yes, and we by all kinds of coffee beans at the Java Shop, and grind them at home. Don't like Capachino? what ever it is called. Love to go to the Coffee shops. And besides the one in Altus, OK loves dogs, and takes pictures of her customers dogs. Calls her album Java Pets. She absoulutely went nuts over Freddie, like to took a whole roll of film.

You beat I fry turkeys. Every Thanksgiving we have one fried turkey, one smoked turkey, and one backed turkey. We will usually have Red Beans and Rice, Shrimp Etouffee (if we can get the crawfish we use it instead of shrimp), Chicken and Sausage Gumbo, Dirty Rice, and Boudin. And if we can find an alligator we will have Alligator Sauce Piquant. We will usually cook lots of it to, because the whole family comes to Mommas. We normally number between 25 and thirty, friends and family. None of our houses can hold that many people at one table so we eat at the born. Great times.
The next poster will have large family get togethers.

Most son is ADHD and we are trying holistic treatment for him rather than the Ritalin which made him have headaches, upset stomach and low growth rate. He has been on holistic and chiropractic care for about 4 months now and is doing great. No more headache, tummy ache and he has grown like you would not believe.

You bet I do hate it, but hate the cooking more than cleaning..........think it has something to do with raising 4 kids and a couple grandkids. Just walked in the door from attending High School Rodeo. Grandson has taken 1st in State team roping, and is holding 1st in Tri-State.......two more rodeos to go.
Next person is going out on the town tonight. |

I wish I felt up to it, been a little sick the past few weeks. We normally go to the local speedway on Sat. night but the weather has played some nasty tricks on us and they were cancelled. Was in the 80's earlier this week and now it is down in the 30's.

Hoss, your family get togethers sound great! Can I come to your moms house the next holiday... Oh maaan I bet there is some good eats!
I too love fried turkeys.. My family has been frying turkeys for years...well before it became the "in" thing. What I wouldnt do to get some good boudin!
Rhonda, I used to live in Houston... Our favorite Mexican restaurant was Guadalajara off of Katy Freeway and Bunkerhill area... Have you been there? Also, Los Alamedas was excellent...though on the pricey side...a special occasion type restaurant. Also, did I read correctly that you volunteer for the Houston SPCA? I used to volunteer there as well..when they had the old dumpy run down building.
To answer Gbats question... Yes, I have met an online friend.. I met this guy from seattle by trading postcards... we become buddies via email and chat... then one day I told him what a great deal we got on a room in LAs Vegas... He said, Oh I can handle that, meaning the price... he showed up with his wife over Xmas... and he had two kids that he dumped off with his in-laws over the holiday... and didnt tell his wife why he suddenly booked a xmas getaway.. I kept telling him to tell his wife that we would be meeting.. I told my husband...he didnt have a problem with it... but he never told his wife and when they showed up, he acted as though he "ran' into us by accident.. Ohhh what a bad boy!! I learned my lesson to never tell him about great hotel deals again.. Given his situation with twwo young children Who wouldve thought he wouldve gone to Vegas over Xmas..
The next poster has never been to the beautiful state of Arizona.

I may be the worst baby sitter in the world. I end up running amuck as bad as the dogs and then they hide and I get all the blame.
To Ana: Judy (my wife) and I would love to have you and your husband come to one of our familys calibration. We always have people come and the family enjoys them as much as we do. We are just an old time family that believes in family values. I no longer live in Texas any more; we live now in Bonifay Fl. I have never volunteered at the Huston SPCA but I think that would be a cool thing to do. There are some nicely priced rooms at some fairly good motels in Bonifay, but if you are a mind to we can always find room in one of our homes. After we eat and calibrate for a while we usually end up in a penny-any poker game that some times will last four hours. Some of us dont drink and some of us drink too much. There are never any fights just lots of fun. Our e-mail is hpatillo@emeraldcst.com. Yall come.
The next poster is a Dog trainer.

just put a deposit on a tiny stud Chi!! His parents weigh 3 - 3.5 lbs. He's SO adorable. Actually, I should say his mamma Lucy, SHOULD weigh 3 lbs but she has a HUGE belly because her people feed her table food. That's a BIG no no in my book but I must say, she's the happiest, sweetest little fat girl I've ever seen!
The next poster lives in a HUGE house! |
