I'm wondering what people feed their dogs and were they buy it. If you wouldn't mind telling what kind of food you feed and what kind of dog you have purebred or mutt it doesn't matter. Thank you in advance. I'll start: I have two Peke's and I feed them Science Diet small bite. I have one Chihuahua puppy and she eats Bill Jack (breeders request). I also feed scrabbled eggs (no salt or milk added) and sometimes they get low sodium chicken broth over their food.

I have a chocolate and yellow lab (purebred) and they are both fed Diamond Dog Food. I buy it from my groomer and you can also get it at some feed stores.

I feed my dogs Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul http://chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com It's on the Whole Dog Journal's top food list and it's made by Diamonds! I fed Diamonds for years, it's a great food, but the Chicken Soup food is a step above that. I buy it at my local feed store and it's very reasonably priced.

Science Diet is a garbage food. I personally feed all of my dogs Innova Evo. I HIGHLY reccomend it. Here check out their website: www.naturapet.com Be sure to check out the food comparison. It will show you exactly whats in other foods. Chicken Soup is also an excellent food. Best of Luck

Please refrain from putting down foods that others feed. I am looking only for information on what people feed and what breed/mix their dogs are not who's food is better. If someone wants to start a post as to why the food they feed it better they are more than welcome to start their own post I'm sure there will be plenty of people to respond to it. Thank you.

I feed my puppy Wellness puppy food (dry). The first ingredient is deboned chicken (no by-products!)...she LOVES chicken! I also give her chicken I cook (boil) and carrots & green beans.

My Westie eats Innova Evo. I can find it at feed stores and individually owned pet stores. http://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=home-tab

Thank you to those of you who have responded. So far we've primarily only hear from purebred dog owners. How about you faithful mixed breed owners what are you feeding? I need to know both side for my study. Thank you all again. Oh by the way this is for a collage class I'm taking. If you were wondering.

I do not currently own a mix breed but I have in the past and I have always fed Diamond. For some reason, good dog food is hard to find in my area. Innova EVO, Wysong, Chicken Soup for the dog Lovers Soul, Holistic Blend, Solid Gold, Natura, etc. are not available here. There is plenty of Purina, Alpo, Iams and Ol'Roy around.

I have pure bred Great Danes, Jack Russell mix, and Lab Mix and of course all of my neighbors mixed breeds, and I feed them all Canine Advantage by Purina Mills. All are free eaters (I keep the bowl filled at all times), and they are very healthy, and the food stay's with them longer. They don't eat as much, and they don't gorge themselves. Also, the price is good.

Sorry forgot to add where i get it, I can purchase it from petstores or I get it from a feed store called city farmers. It's hard to come by good food here as well so i have to specially order it, which costs more but is definitely worth it.

We fed our pups a hand-prepared raw dies from 9-10 weeks to 6 mos, consisting of veggies, rare beef, oils (i.e flax seed, etc.), vitamins, digestive (powder) enzymes, level 5000 - more or less. We have continued the rare diet but have switched to Bravo, which comes in a frozen roll that you thaw out. It has the veggies, yams, etc. and the necessary bone and organ meat that our rare beef alone did not have. It has to be ordered from a vet and is not sold on-line or at retail. In addition to the raw we have always given them a kibble in addition. The one we've used since the beginning is "PHD." Since finding out about Innova "Evo" we have started alternating the kibble between both. Multiple sources have mentioned that alternating between two kibbles is the best way to assure you have all bases covered. Our pups are Italian Mastiffs (Cane Corsos) and they love the EVO and have had no stomach upsets since we've started mixing this in 3 times a week for the past two months. Visit www.bravorawdiet.com and www.phdproducts.com as far as EVO is concerned there are tons of sites if you do a search.

I have a nothing-in-particular mutt and a rott mutt. I feed them Royal Canin Natural Blend, which I buy at Petco. RCNB is also available at local feed stores, but the Petco is right across the street from where I live.

I feed my 1 yr old minnie doxie Dr. Harveys. Its a dry mix that you cook and add the protien and oil. Its expensive $75 for a 10 lb. bag. But it is worth every penny.

Science Diet, Bill Jack, Diamond, Canine Advantage are all "junk" foods. (Not too sure about Nutro.) Read The Dog Food Project - A GREAT Source of Info on Dog Food thread (http://www.nextdaypets.com/directory/dogs/forum/1771.aspx) to see why. Mainly, to sum it up in a nutshell, there's too many fillers, too much by-products, and they use BHA and BHT to preserve the food. BHA, along with BHT, is actually banned from human use in many countries but still permitted in the US despite the fact that they're a possible human carcinogen. BHA and BHT were proven to be carcinogenic in animal experiments and it should be noted that the oxidative characteristics and/or metabolites of BHA and BHT may contribute to carcinogenicity or tumorigenicity. So why on Earth would anyone want to pump their Dogs full of a Dog food that could turn around and cause cancer due to the preservatives used? Kudos to everyone who uses the better holistic foods like Solid Gold, Innova, Canidae, Royal Canin, Wellness, and Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul. You're doing well nutritionally for your dogs. Keep it up! Someone mentioned PHD, that's good too!

Some of those holisitc foods can be bought directly online and shipped right to your doorstep. Artemis (http://www.artemiscompany.com/), Flint River Ranch (http://www.flintriver-home.com/), Solid Gold (http://www.solidgoldhealth.com/), TimberWolf Organics (http://www.timberwolforganics.com/), and Wysong (http://www.wysong.net/) can ALL be ordered online directly from the maufacturer. You can even do catalog ordering and ordering by phone for these holistic brands as well. Heck, Solid Gold sends a catalog everytime you order directly from them online. Some of the holistic manufacturer sites will even link you to online distributors and retailers and you can simply order that way as well.
