Wow, news flash to me. I haven't used Hartz in a while because I've found things that are more effective. But I used their products for years with no problems at all.
There appear to be alot of people having problems with Hartz, but how many customers out there are doing just fine?

I must say I don't thoroughly agree with boycotting Hartz products completely. The flea and tick drops and flea collars, I will never use them. However, other items don't seem to be causing problems. The flea and tick drops, those obviously make animals ill, the flea collars, I don't know maybe allergic reactions, but other items don't necessarily cause problems.

When I started thinking about it, I remembered that I heard a LONG time ago that the Hartz take off of Front Line drops gave some dogs seizures. But I do still like Hartz shampoo.
I wonder what the heck is going on with the flea drops though. You'd think they'd change the forumla if dogs were having problems like that. Nobody ever complained of Front Line like that, that I know of, so it's not like anyone would be able to just blame the individuals using it....

i got a sample from them after doinga survey- of some natural shampoos & conditioners ( they did not contain anything for fleas) just like flowers & oatmeals

etc.

they worked nicely, and i acually liked the product.

i was surprised .

but - it was VERY good stuff.

again; it had NO pesticides in it at all.

I used a water based flea spray that they have for my infestation, and it worked wonderfully, with NO side effects at all. I've never heard anything bad about the product either. It worked exactly as said.

I particularly cant say that I have any experience with the flea products, but when I was a kid I think my mom used it on our dog, that Dog never had any problems.

My cousin used Hartz Flea products on her cat once and her cat got VERY very ill. She eventually got better, but it was terrible seeing her so sick. My cousin was so upset and convinced that her beloved cat was going to die... it was just so sad. We called Hartz to complain, but got no answer. We called the emergency number on the back as well and complained to them about it.

Here is the story on the site http://www.hartzvictims.org/modules.php?name=News&...

The article only says that they used Hartz drops...it says nothing about weather the direction on the packaging were followed or even read. It sounds just like they may have used the drops that we made for a Dog on a cat. And since the writer of that article did not leave any identifying information, obviously no questions can be asked.

I believe it was Miami Animal Police where the drops were used on a cat, that were for dogs and caused the cat to become ill. It's hard to determine whether or not the people are using the drops correctly. Now I will never go near them, just in case, however without hard evidence that it was ALL the fault of the Hartz drops, what can be done about it? Isn't it possible that the flea drops were sold out for their requirements, so they got the ones for dogs, just based on the weight of their cat or something to do the trick? As for the flea collar on hartz victims, I don't understand it. That was a SEVERE wound. Shouldn't it have been noticed earlier?

I was also suprised to find out that you should not use Advantix flea products on your Dog if you have cats in your home due to a serious reaction it can cause to cats

I think alot of product problems occur when users do not take the time to read and fully understand the directions/instructions PRIOR to using products. Many Many products come with toll free 1800 number in the event that there are questions.

I have used the Hartz flea drops in the past, on my cat, as well as my dogs. This was before hearing about the problems people have had. However, I didn't experience a problem. People that have had sick animals from these products usually had cats. I asked how they applied the product, and most people say they start between the shoulder blades all the way to the base of the tail. Now with a cat, isn't it common knowledge that cats can lick their backs, while dogs can't? You see many of the problems with the flea drops are with cats. If that is what these people are doing, the cats could easily lick the drops from the base of their tail and a little higher, which could make them sick. Quite a few people have told me that this is how they do it. When using flea drops, I always put it simply in between the shoulder blades, that is all. I really don't think it's safe that they put the drops all the way down the back of a cat. Cats are constantly licking at themselves, and would be sure to lick off the chemical drops if they were in reach.

The first thing i learned working at one of largest pet retailers is that hertz flea products dont work..i personaly dont use there products but there shampoos are ok, i have found better stuff but hey you can get that stuff for a buck so its good for some people..
Deflea is a wonderful no pesticide natural flea killer that kills fleas fast but the flea must come in contant with it..
All in all ive founf that you buy the time you spend money trying to save money and not getting frontline or advantage you spend the same amout or more..the cheapest i found it is on ebay.
