How to avoid from being scammed?

Recently I've found a pomeranian puppy for sale and is keeping contact with the breeder. I'm afraid of being scammed and don't know if I should send in the deposit money. I've asked if the owner would accept pay pal but she said that she's been scammed through pay pal by a buyer who took back the charge. She accepts bank wire transfer and money gram. She told me that she's using Delta or North west airline for shipping. How do I know if I'm being scammed or not? WHat should I do?

Using either of they payment methods this person is asking for, you could be sending your money to BFE (or Cameroon) for all you know.

What about a notorized document of some kind? A contract but add the price and such in. Or what about an escrow account? Something that is beneficial to both of you somehow??? Sorry, I got scammed but only in the quality of pup I recieved.

Or... better yet, just don't buy online. Get them from a good shelter, or a breeder whom openly welcomes you to their home and the area where the dogs are kept and raised. If you don't have any breeders near you for that particular breed you want. Try to find a rescue group. They will often have puppies, young and young adults and mixes and purebreds, and many of them are willing to place them far distances (around the country.)

Contact the pomeranian breed club in your area to find a breeder. Youre asking for trouble by purchasing online sight unseen. Heck, you could be buying a puppy mill dog for all you know.

I am a breeder and YES pay-pal is allowing people 45 days from date of sale to charge back the items. That person has the dog then gets the money back. Bad deal for the breeder. It has happened to me to. You will find breeders are getting charge backs, bad money orders, bad checks, and this is why they are all wanting something like Western Union, in which the breeder has to show a drivers license and they take all the info down before giving the money. Western Union has been around alot longet than pay-pal and is well known all over the world. Ask for a vet refrence, ask for others. trust your gut and talk to the breeder at length. But please dont use Pay-pal , they are screwing the bredders out of their dogs. and its not sick dogs they just go with what the credit card company says after the customer does a charge back.
