whats wrong with the puppy that you have? maybe if you take GOOD care of the puppy you have right now..your parents will think your more responsible and might get you the Dog you want...for now i think you should pay more attention to the puppy u have right now. Puppies are a handfull!

Tedious repetition....You brought home one puppy without permission and had to persuade your parents to let you keep it. I'd say you were pretty lucky given the circumstances, and wouldn't push your luck any further.

What kind of puppy is the first one you brought home? Regardless of what breed it is...do not screw this up...you are lucky that you got to keep the first one. I don't think that your parents would agree to a Rottweiler (that's one of the breed names that makes people shiver). Please do not disappoint a poor Dog by bringing him home when he won't be wanted.

It would have been much more mature if you had asked your parents first, done a lot of research on the breed to show how serious you are about the responsibilites, etc.

You're just going to make your parents more angry, and if you bring a second Dog home, they may decide to not let you keep it or the first one anymore. I hope that the Dog you have already and the Rottweiler do not end up in a shelter.

i agree with you. I'd wouldn't like if my kids came home with any animal without my permission even though I adore them.

To the op, keep the pup you got and don't get another until THEY say you can and are willing to foot the vet bills, and food/supply expenses for 2 Puppies.

Cant these posters just read all the 100's of other posts on this topic? i think we r averaging about 10 a week!

If you are lucky enough to have one pup already why not just give it all your love and attention instead of buying a massive Dog which will require hours of training and will take over the entire house. If your parents let you keep the 1st pup, tyour lucky, dont push it by bringing home another larger breed. Have some repect for your parents, it their house and they have to take care of the pup when you want to see your friends or do homework or are at school.

Wow, you're a really stingy person aren't you? You first bring home a puppy without asking your parents and most likely threw a tantrum so they said you could keep it, and now you want to push them even further by trying to get a Rottweiler? Are you kidding me? Be more respectful of your parents. It is THEIR home, THEIR rules. You are lucky that you have the one you do now. Bringing an animal home without asking is disrespectful, and shows all signs of being a spoiled brat. One puppy is hard enough for a child to handle, a Rottweiler would make things 10 times harder. Have you thought about the cost of the dog? Rottweiler's are large and require a lot of food, vet care as they are prone to hip dysplasia which can run up to 10,000 dollars in surgery costs, toys, training, etc. Who would be doing all of this assuming that you are in school? Your parents right? Stick with the puppy you now have, be more respectful in the future, and don't even think about getting another Dog until you are more mature and do your research. It's your parents decision. If you had to do a lot of persuading for this puppy, then what makes you think they're going to allow you to get a Rottweiler? Fat chance there I must say.

My parents say no, its too much, but I don't think they know what they are talking about..how can I make them feel guilty so I can get my way?!"

The problem is I see, that alot of parents feel backed in a corner. Lets go back to the op. Well, this person got a Dog anyway and suprised his or her parents with a pup. The folks probably didn't want to say "No! Take it to the pound." where it would definately be killed if no one wanted it. If he had to do alot of persuading its probably because they felt that it wasn't really a good idea, but figured "Well, its already here!" I just hope this puppy has a good, happy life and a longterm home.

It's bad enough the kid went out and brought home a Dog without permission and ultimately had to beg for that Dog to stay. Makes me wonder if the kid ever thought about what would have happened to the Dog if parents put their foot down and No actually meant No.

Maybe the OP hasn't figured out this little thing called 'Listening' maybe if your parents wanted you to have a second dog, they should be the one to come to this decision...not the kid.

Yes, I do agree these get annoying. I think we should have a thread up top called 'what to do if you want a puppy and your parents say no' and make it so that thread stays at the top and never moves...so anyone who wants to post a topic like this will get filed into that thread instead of riddling these boards with Me, Me, Me, I want, I want, I want all the time.

That would definitely be a good idea. I'm all for that. Of course, some people would still try to post these ridiculous and irritating threads, but the administrators would stop them in their tracks by telling them to refer to the post at the top of the forum. Children can be very ungrateful. You just get one puppy that you brought home without asking, but now you want a Rottweiler as well? No child would ever be able to handle a puppy and a Rottweiler at the same time. Rottweiler's are powerful and difficult to take care of, while a puppy is hard to handle either way. Give it up, take care of the puppy you have now, and go about your life with ONE dog. You don't need another.

I hope some kids will we read everything we are saying here, but I doubt it.

Come on...it was bad enough the parents weren't happy about the first puppy, but them hearing a name like "Rottweiler" is not going to be good, because of their negative reputation.

I hope the OP will reply and tell us what he decided to do.

Well if the OP's parents allowed the first one with kicking and screaming, s/he will probably do the same thing, and get their way again.
