I've been reading and resoponding on this site a bit, and I have a feeling there is not too many Dog lovers who believe that shipping a pup at all is a good idea. PLEASE try to give your dogs to people that are close enough to drive. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think your responces will be positive here. I'm sure you can find locals or local enough that can meet you, and you can meet them. Do that for your pups. I think you can get some good advise on screening your potential owners here.

I agree with momofcam. Shipping is very stressful for dogs, and especially pups. Also, do u really know what kind of home ur puppy is going to? You should really think about selling to people closer to u.
Good luck!

I hope no one has any negative responses to this as many breeders do ship Puppies. I, personally, would not ship a Dog as it is very stressful for them. If you are having no luck placing them with local families, see if they can meet you 1/2 way.

So many negative people - I SWEAR!! I've heard wonderful stories of Puppies who were shipped and rec'd wonderful care. They meet their new owners and everybody is thrilled! If the puppy is the right age and socially prepared, they do great!

Well for your information though the experience may be a little stressful shipping animals has not as harsh as you put it. Shipping is actually safer than you might think. The dogs are not thrown in with the rest of the luggage the dogs take precidence by law over the rest of the luggage. Many airlines are VERY good with your animals the cargo storage that takes dogs have to be a certain temperature and most are now heated. When looking for traveling accomodations please ask around and look for STRICT guidlines. All airlines are under some federal mandate on how they handle warm blooded animals. ALSO make sure the crate is large enough and that you animal is not restricted from moving. A common practice is if the kennel fits go the next size up. ALWAYS put a something soft so that your animal can lay on it and not on the plastic. ALSO INDICATE on shipping that you would like your Dog to be fed at EVERY STOP THey will do that if it is wrote on there. I also recommend that you do not ship very young puppys as cargo unless weather is in perfect conditions small puppys can loose their body heat faster and its harder for them to keep warm. Call airlines for quotes ask alot of questions on their procedures make sure you know there policies and get it all in writing. Shipping you puppys can be good for all parties MAKE SURE YOU ASK THEM TO CALL WHEN THEY PICK UP YOUR BABYS.

Hello guys.
Life is stressful, a final match of NFL or NBA is stressful - BUT IS WONDERFUL. It is wonderful be a live.
We can not forget that after this trip the puppy will be with people that will give love to him.

shipping a puppy has become a lot safer over the years then it used to be. my main concern is not so much shipping the Puppies but knowing who and where they are going. just speaking to people over the phone is not enough in my book to judge their character or how well they will take care of the Puppies. my suggestion would be to have a local rescue group in the area of the new puppy owners go and do a home check for you before you agree to ship them.

Knowing how my maltipoo is frightened even on car journeys, I am horrified to think what he must have suffered being imported from Texas to the UK, then driven to the quarantine kennels and isolated for 6 months. All this when he was only 12 weeks old. We took him home after the people that purchased him didn't bother to collect him or to even visit him once in all that time. He was 12 months old by then and totally institutionalised. We love him to bits, but I worry that such a poor start may have emotionally damaged him. He still paces around in crcles sometimes when he is stressed, thinking we are going out without him and it took him weeks to even be brave enough to cross from one room to another, he would stop at the threshold and refuse to walk into the room. He loves to play with other dogs, yet growls and barks when we go to walk away from them. He sounds aggressive but he isn't, he is submissive. Breeders should be more selective re buyers of Puppies. before agreeing to send them on long journeys alone.
