i just got home to find that my 3 month old puppys tummy was really bloated. i think it has something to do with his food, because last night i found out that i hadnt been feeding him enough so this morning i gave him a lot more than i usually do. he woofed it down like he usually does (i feed him in a muffin tin hoping it will slow him down) and everything seemed fine until i left for a few hours and when i came home i found him like this. its not serious or anything is it? is there anything i can do to help the bloating? |

Honestly, I'd think his stomach is just big from all the extra food. I say that because it's happened to our dogs when they were pups. BUT you can never be certain, maybe you should take your pup to the vet or at least phone, just to be safe. Remeber, any change in diet should be made gradually, even an increase in food. To stop the pup wolfing his food down, try putting something big in the bowl like a big stone. Obviously something thats too big to be swallowed. |

Hi It really depends on when your puppy was de-wormed last , if there was anything he could have swallowed and got twisted inside him , also he could have eatten to much there are a ton of factors that could be the problem , your best and safiest bet would be to take him to the vet and see what the doc thinks . good luck |

thanks i was looking around for what i could to to reduce the size of his stomach and i saw this "bloat" thing. apparently its deadly, so i was afraid my puppy might be in danger
i shouldve known better about that food thing. my mother was puppy-sitting for me, and she decided to increase his food and did it all at once. i shouldve reminded her to do it gradually.. well thanks again |

I would get the puppy wormed, just to be safe. Usually a protruding belly means exactly that... worms. Nasty little boogers they are. |

I agree. I would have your puppy tested and worm if needed. |

Instead of feeding more food in one feeding, try 3-4 smaller portions a day. It sounds like your puppy is getting too much in one feeding which really is not good for him. The muffin tin is a wonderful idea to help slow him down. |

My yorkie puppy is about 3 months old and she was running around playing eating and what not, and then i put her in the bathroom and took her out and now shes so bloated and she kind of stands wierd. But she has a quick reaction, runs barks but when she doesnt stand quite straight could this just be because she is bloated? |
