Very true . I myself own a few Rotts , and also other gaurd breeds, but a female rott in the house at nite, plus a AK47 with 40round clip (bullets are 7.62x39 hollowpoint so they will not travel miles aways and hit someone in another house)I live almost a mile off the road, and would not suggest this gun in a city home(bullets travel to far)also a shotgun is prob. better protection anyway. plus added with almost a lifetime of training, and proven ring exp. Chances are if someone ever did come in at nite and did not have a gun, I know that I myself without the rott or gun would be safe, but there are not to many people these day that intrude without a gun, unless they are high on something. Also we live to far off the road, most would not have a reason to come back here. As for someone in a high risk area, I would have NO LESS then a 60lb dog, and no less then 80lb Dog if the person is on drugs. But you do what ever makes you fill safe, chances are you will never have to know for sure what works. Hopefully a good watch Dog is all that you will ever need.

I'm not even going to read your posts. Why don't you type with correct grammar rather than chat speak as people call it? It's very difficult to read.

I was wanting to know what that language was called. So now we also have to learn, Spanish and chat speak. When will it stop? I have learned spanish, but that chat speak looks to hard for me.

My grandfather is an owner of a rottweiler. I was visiting with my father when one of my cousins arived in the drive way. She got out of the car and she said "Buddy" just watched her. Buddy was not familier with my cousin. As she finished gathering her things from her car she moved through the yard and toward the back door. Buddy moved up to the porch with her and as she moved to grab the the door handle Buddy grabbed her arm and held her there. She tried to pull away and move to open the door and Buddy tightened his grip. She finnaly flipped out and called for someone in the house to help her. Grandmother came outside from the front and saw what was going on. She said, "Buddy let go." Buddy immediatly released and sat down next to her. Buddy's bite hadn't even have left a mark. He kept someone he didn't know from entering the house. Buddy is a grand dog!

Quote stevossss: You stated that you have dobermans, they are a great breed for protection, just like a rottweiler, but did you know that they are know to bite kids more often then a rottweiler? I am sure that you have...

I did some research because I could not believe that Dobermans bite more. Though the stats are a few years old I'm sure they haven't changed that much.
"Rottweilers and Pit Bulls were involved in 60 percent of the 27 Dog bite fatalities that occurred in 1997 and 1998. Rottweilers were involved in 10 deaths, and Pit Bulls were involved in 6."
"From 1979 through 1998, at least 25 breeds of dogs have been involved in 238 human Dog bite related deaths. Pit Bulls and Rottweilers were involved in more than 50 percent of these deaths."
http://www.dogbitelegalcenter.com/resources/dogbite-statistics.html

"The attention given to the homicides has put the spotlight on pit bulls and Rottweilers. Without a doubt, these two dogs are usually the number one and number two canine killers of humans."
"Studies indicate that pit bull-type dogs were involved in approximately a third of human DBRF (i.e., Dog bite related fatalities) reported during the 12-year period from 1981 through1992, and Rottweilers were responsible for about half of human DBRF reported during the 4 years from 1993 through 1996....[T]he data indicate that Rottweilers and pit bull-type dogs accounted for 67% of human DBRF in the United States between 1997 and 1998."

getpaid5-- R U honestly that immature that u have to keep arguing bout what other ppl's opinions r or what they belive? is this not a site to post questions n answers or to talk bout dog's n what types r good to b gaurd dogs? u sound like my 5 yr old daughter, if some one says something u dont agree with then who cares just keep it to ur self if it does not have n e thing to do wit the topic...i came on here to find out what ppl thought bout good gaurd dogs that r good with children, n i read all the posts n it seems that all ur here for is to try to make fum of others for the way they type or what they say, if that person likes rotties, n types in a diffrent manner then u...then so what let it go...this is n internet site not a page that asks for ur oppinion on wht others ppl think or the way they type, n if that person repeats what they have already posted then so what who do u think u r ...do u really think ppl care to here what u have to say...ppl come here to see what other ppls oppinions r on good gaurd dogs for kids...not on what u think bout others typing skills...or what u think bout what others think bout diffrent breeds...is there n e way u can keep ur oppinions to ur self, n jus talk bout the topic, n forget bout how other ppl type or what breeds they personally like, im not sure but i dont think n e one asked for ur oppinion on what that person said bout rotties...if u dont like them or dont agree whith what they said bout them, then thats fine but dont start puttin ppl down or tell them there wrong, cuz ur oppinion is not the same as theres...n e ways to get back to the subject what dogs r good with children...n at the same time...a good gaurd Dog for my family...i would preffer a average sized dog, as i live in a dueplex n our home is not big enough to have a Dog over 60-80lbs
