Quote backyardbreeder: Wow, whats wrong with breeding an average dog(non-champion)for a family to love and care for as a pet. You all make it sound like the regular AKC dogs are a contamination threat to their gene pool.
I...

It's inbreeding dummy and I don't think you're qualified to speak on the subject, in fact I think you're a imagine that

Even elite show breeders don't produce all show quality dogs, so obviously you're comparing apples and oranges.

right now is NOT a good time to do anything period as far as making a profit. breeding or selling anything period. the economy sucks big and a lot of people simply cannot afford to buy anything that they absolutely do not have to have. we know who to thank for this. i think we will see even more dogs in rescues as people are losing their homes left and right.you would be better off at this time offering a service that people absolutely have to have. looking at this from a business point of view, i wouldnt invest in anything at this time. the economy is very shaky and i think it will get even worse. hopefully when the election is over, depending on who takes office, we will see change. if we dont get someone in there who will straighten this mess out...we will be doomed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't had any problems finding my dogs homes and mine are not bottom rung or the least expensive by any means.

I think more American's are having pets and not children, those people have a lot of extra income, and treat their dogs like children and spare no expense.

Or instead of having that 2nd or 3rd child, many families are just getting a dog, or another dog. Shelter/rescue options have always been there for free and people still don't choose them, because they want a cute puppy that they can raise from the time its a baby.

I think the 'economy' will weed out some breeders, but I think other breeders will weather the economy just fine.

A lot will have to do with how they raise and care for their dogs, what they offer as far as health contracts, the cleanliness of their homes or kennel, and their phone and people skills.

Nationally though, there is always a family somewhere looking for a puppy.
