As some of you may know I recently adpoted a GSD pup he is now about 14weeks, training is going great and we are working on socialization, We have a bit of a problem with him, He gets way to rough with smaller dogs and other puppy's he tumbles over them bites at there abs there necks shows whos boss, not in an aggressive manner just VERY dominit way, the other pups tuck their tails ears go back hair pops up they run away in fear and hide grow and tell him to stop yet he keeps at it, I really want him to be social will dogs of all size's and age's, with our older shepherd and other older dogs he behaves and is submissive to them, but he is just plain rude to dogs his own age and dogs smaller then him, Anyone have any ideas on what i can do before this becomes a bigger problem down the road? I dunno if maybe this is a puppy thing or not, I want dogs to be able to put him in his place but i also don;t want him to have a bad experience along the way so any advice would be very helpful, thanks |

Ah, the a typical gsd, dont take this the wrong way, but the problem is you in this mainly. Gsds have a very strong ties to pack order, all dogs do but gsds are worse. You have to be pack leader, you must start the NILIF Dog training ( google it)and you must correct him every time he tries to pull rank or dominated another dog, your the leader and you say what is acceptable or not. I would start since hes still small to doing the dominence roll on him, meaning you flip him over, dont choke but restrain him while holding down on the breast bone, this area youll know if you have it right because he will be unable to bite you, restrain by pressure in that area not the throat, let go as soon as he submits just as he is the other Puppies. I would do it every time he gets too rough with them |
