I took my Dog to the vet a couple days a go.And we found out he had lyme disase!!!
And now he has to take pills! He hates them.
I tried to find a thing called Pill Pockets, but was not suseccesful.I had used pill pockets before for a diffrent dog.
I really need some help. And fast!!I don`t like to spoil my Dog to much,no meats.Maybe cheese??

peanut butter works well. make a ball & push the pill in the center.
cheese works too. give him a small piece first so he knows he likes it - then give him a piece that has the pill wrapped in it. ditto the PB
a 1/2 slice of lunch meat works too |

i use small chunks of hot Dog because of the strong odor and ease on hiding pills and I have yet to have a Dog that didnt try to swallow them whole. |

My dogs learned long ago to feel food items with their teeth to find the pill and spit it out. They actually acquired the skill from plush toys with squeakers in them - they'd nibble at different parts till they found the squeaker by feel and then chomp that part of the toy repeatedly. What I do to get around this is use 2 pieces of cheese, lunchmeat or whatever I intend to hide the pill in. I make sure the Dog sees that there are 2 treats. I give the Dog the 1 with the pill in it and while I'm handing it to the Dog I immediately start to hand the Dog the second treat. Most dogs are just greedy enough to gulp the first piece quickly so they can get the second one. It works especially well if there is another Dog in the room because the Dog getting the pill will want to get all the treats just like a small child would. Of course I always had some treats for the other Dog too. |

Won't peanut butter stick to the roof of his mouth? |

But then I went to plan B.I bought a moist cewy thing, then i gave it to my dog.He loved it!
I give him anough so he would not taste the pill.It was a success!!
