I JUST BOUGHT A yorkie MALE. I SENT A DEPOSIT AND THE Dog IS GOING TO BE SMALL. 3 WERE IN THE LITTER. I SENT THE REST OF THE PAYMENT. IAM SUPPOSED TO PICK UP PUPPY THIS WEEKEND SATURDAY,THE 19TH. IVE NEVER SEEN THE PUPPY. SHE CALLED ME YESTERDAY TO TELL ME THE PUPPY HAS A COUGH, TOOK HIM TO THE VET, SHE GIVES SHOTS AT 8 WKS AND THEN THE SECOND AT 16 WKS, IT HAS BEEN SIX DAYS SINCE HIS LAST SHOT AT 16 WEEKS.NOW HER VET DID NOT GIVE HER A DIGNISIS BUT GAVE HER DOXYCYCLINE.AND MADE A COMMENT THAT IT MIGHT BE MYCOPLASMA. WHAT THE HECK IS THAT I ASK. SHE DOESNT KNOW .. ALL THE PUPPYS ARE FINE BUT THIS ONE. HE IS COUGHING BUT IS PERFECTLY NORMAL ,EATS POOPS,PEES PLAYS ETC. MY QUESTION,,,,DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE VACCINE AND WILL IT GO AWAY, IS IT JUST RUNNING ITS COURSE? NONE OF THE OTHERS HAVE IT, JUST HIM. THE SHOTS WERE JUST DISTEMPER AND PARVO, THATS IT.PLEASE HELP ME AS I WANT THIS PUPPY. I DID GET ONE FROM HER BEFORE AND IT WAS FINE BUT IT WAS A TWO YR OLD FEMALE. I STILL HAVE HER. |

Maybe it is just running its course. There is a great possibility for that. But if this puppy doesn't get better and gets worse take ti to the vet. But I doubt that it will get worse. (Highly doubt it) |

hopefully it is just running it's course.please don't tell somebody "i doubt it will get worse" .giving your opinion on something is one thing but giving out a medical opinion when you are not qualified to do so is not right.sindlu-by all means if your Dog is not doing any better take him to the vet.alot of people on here can give you good advice, but a vet should be your best option. |

i am going to take a shot at this to the best of my knowledge. here goes. there is absolutely no way that any vet could have or could say that a puppy could have mycoplasma infection until a culture is done and grown for at least two weeks. there has not been time for this. your puppy more than likely has a form of upper respiratory infection. possibly viral, bacterial, etc. you stated that the puppy was given a parvo distemper vaccine. please ask the breeder if the vaccine also included parainfluenza. if so, this may have caused the infection to present itself had the puppy been exposed. doxycycline is an ok choice for upper respiratory issues however, my preference is baytril. if i had to give advice, i would ask her to keep this puppy until he/she is no longer presenting symptoms of upper respiratory infection because..Puppies that tiny sometimes fail to eat when they have an upper respiratory infection because they lose their sense of smell. once this happens, you are then looking at a whole new ballgame with hypoglycemia and overall serious illness. if shipping is involved with your purchase, dont do it!!! the shipping and the upper respiratory issues will more than likely be too much for your puppy to handle. |
