Milo Pearsall wrote an excellent book on training dogs using gentle methods.Yes, it is an older book but it goes into the psychology of training and is easy to understand. Your pup is trying to get you to play and is also seeing if he can be alpha ( number 1) dog. You must quickly remind him that YOU are alpha and he is nearer the bottom. When he grabs your pant leg, reach down and grab him by the scruff of the neck and say NO! in a low growly voice. When he looks up at you like Huh? say GOOD BOY in a happy smiley voice and get him someting to play with. Labs are retrievers and I would be willing to guess he likes to play ball. Encourage that. Then when he wants toplay he will bring you his ball instead of grabbing your pant leg. It's just a miscommunication problem. And please don't be afraid of your dog. He is a good boy but like all fur children, he will push the limits. Just think how you would respond to your 13 year old son telling you he and his buddies are taking your car out and geeting drunk on your nickel. Are you going to give him your credit card numbers and the car keys or are you going to laugh as you remind him who is alpha? |

this puppy is only 8 weeks old but you still can teach him some things.
try googling NILIF for some very good info that will help you stay in top Dog positiion.
when he is old enough find good puppy classes to go with him too.
when he chews your foot replace it with an appropriate chew toy |
