Hey, I have a 6.5 month old Chi/Pug cross named Gizmo. He was doing really good with housebreaking, then all of a sudden(about 1 week ago) he started peeing in the kitchen. He REFUSES to pee outside. I put him outside and no matter how long he is out there, whether I'm with him, or whether I just watch him through the window he will no longer pee outside. He comes in and promptly urinates in the kitchen. Not really in the same in the kitchen, but where-ever he happens to be. I am soooooo frustrated, the Dog has picked up on this and is now starting to get afraid of me. What can I do??? HELP!!!!!! |

Is he just peeing and not marking? Has he been neutered? I would continue taking him out frequently, on the hour if necessary, on leash. Use your catch phrase and give lots of praise if he goes. Don't give him a chance to fail in the house. Put him in an x pen, crate or gated area that can be wiped clean when you can't watch him 100 %. |

It seems something or someone frighten him as he was going outside. Try taking him to differnt areas on a walk right after he has eaten or drank. Take him where other dogs go, so he will mark. Encourage him to go and praise him when he does. If you get mad at him it will just confuse and probably prolong the problem. Good Luck |

I think it started when the Geese flew in on their way north. There is a large field beside us that floods with the spring melt. The geese will come right up into the yard and all over the street. The first day we put him out and the geese were in the yard, he freaked out, which in turn made the geese freak out... I was also watching him today, and it seems he thinks he isn't supposed to be doing his "business" off the snow, as thats the only place he could during the winter. Now that all our snow is just about gone, he has run out of places to go....hmmmmmmm. My GF and I have decided to take him in for neutering this Friday....maybe that will help as well... |

that's great that you are getting him neutered. it prevents cancer & other serious health conditions
get some straw & fluff up a flake of it & put it on a designated spot. I'm sure he will start to use it.
good luck |
