hmmm....not really sure about this 100% because I have never had any black Puggles, and I don't know what your Dog is mixed with. As in was dad the Beagle or the pug? Was this a first generation straight cross or a second generation?
In every one of my litters for the past 2 years, all have been fawn like the Pug dad--now there are different shades of fawn from very light yellow to VERY DARK coffee brown. All from the same fawn Pug bred to different Beagles with different genes.
I imagined that people that were selling the Black Puggles were just breeding the Beagle females with the black male Pug. In that case they should be a pretty true black, but with the exception of black labs it seems like many horses or dogs can get bleached or faded in the sun-- or are not a super-true black.
I don't know if that was any help at all, it would be helpful for a picture.
