HELP! my Dog has been having coughing fits and a little trouble breathing now and again. My friend told me her Dog was having the exact same problem and she took her to the vet and it turned out the Dog wasn't sick and she didn't have anything visible up her nose (like a bir or foxtail) so the vet was a little confused and thought it might be pollen allergies. (Our town is rural, lots of allergens in the air) she is breathing/coughing(?) pretty heavily right now... ok she just stopped. PLEASE HELP! and if you are just here to flame go away because I am here for advice and I really trust your judgement! thankyou! |

no one can diagnose your Dog over the internet.
of course it COULD be allergies, & probably is - but it could also be an infection, congestive heart failure or several other conditions.
when your Dog is having health problems, it needs to go to the vet. |

Dogs are NOT like people. A Dog with an allergy will usually have a SKIN CONDITION and not a breathing problem. I would take my Dog to the vet TODAY if it is having problems breathing. The cost is not worth your dog's life. |

i've never heard of a Dog coughing and having breathing problems due to allergies. Asthma from what i read is caused from a blockage of the airway caused by mucous buildup. it doesn't say anything about allergies causing this but its a disease that is found mostly in cats. It could also be reverse sneezing. Take your Dog to the vet. I don't think this is allergy-related. Sign of allergies are usually skin irritation, vomiting and diarrhea. Again, take your Dog to the vet. |
