this afternoon we had a veterinary appointment with the dogs...4pm...just before we got in the car...our cat..was involved in a horrifying accident..immediately we put him in a crate and took him in as an emergency...he passed just minutes from the veterinarians office...my husband grabbed the crate and ran into the vets office in hysterics...and ...it was too late and the vet asked him if he wanted them to take care his body...my husband said no...we would take him home and bury him..as he didnt want to spend the 40.00...i explained to him that the 40.00 would be more than worth the heartache to take him back home and deal with it himself....he then asked the vet what would be done with his body...he said they would bury him...and we both agreed to that and my husband went to the car...i finished up with the dogs appointments...and went to the counter to pay...maybe all of 15 to 20 minutes....when i got to the car...my husband said the cat had been burried...i said...what?? he said they burried the cat...i said already?? where?? he said a girl came out with a wheelbarrow and a shovel...dug a hole...and put the cat in it and covered it up....right on the side of the vets office....he said see right there where the dirt is......has anyone heard of such a thing?? to charge 40.00 for a vet tech to dig a hole..and put an animal in it..no box..bag..no nothing...just a dead cat in a hole in the ground covered with dirt...and...while the owner sits in the car and watches??????????? i think we both are still stupified and shell shocked...never in my life have i ever heard of such a thing.....

I am so sorry for your tragic loss, Ive never heard of such a thing sounds really strange and it may not be a bad idea to change vets if they seem so careless. again I am very sorry about your cat

First of all let me say how sorry I am for your loss. I would seriously consider finding a new vet as this vet seems to have ZERO compassion.

It is illegal in my state to bury a pet in the backyard including the vets back yard. I cannot imagine a vet being so careless as to have this pet burried while you sit an watch....how horrifying.

i'm very sorry for your loss.just know you will see her at the rainbow bridge.as for the vet ,run as fast as you can.not only do they sound uncompassionate, they don't sound very ethical either.hope you have luck finding another good vet.

That is sad. I am sorry for your lost. I guess you can not trust some vets anymore.

What a terribly callous way for them to act! I'm so sorry for your and your husband's loss. That is just awful.

What a horrible experience. Never go to that vet again.

his brother is now grieving i think....i raised them both from babies that would fit in the palm of your hand...some idiot let them go at about 5 weeks of age and i didnt think they would make it...they were identical twins..couldnt tell them apart unless they were side by side...one was a bit larger than the other....one had a purple collar and the other on had a blue one...this would tell them apart when they were apart...but...they always managed to get them off...they are flamepoints...we had them neutered together at around 5 mos of age...i know his twin is missing him horribly as they always had quite the time together rip roaring around the house....my question is...should i get him another buddy??? when?? and what?? another male kitten...female?? what will work?? would an adult female bond with him or will there be a fight??? someone help me figure out what is right for him.....

Sorry for your loss. I haven't had a great week either. We lost a puppy on Tuesday.

Take care.

Find a new vet. They should have a least waited to be sure you were gone.
You never know. I can an experience with a groomer who I never went back to. Can to pick up my Dog and she was being pretty abusive to a Dog she was grooming. Never went back there. Just looked at her and never recommended her again. You should tell that vet what you saw and how you felt about it.

Oh my goodness sakes.
Last Friday (8 days ago) I was backing out of my driveway to take a litter of Puppies to the vet when I ran over my little beagle. She was from the first litter that we bred and was so close to our hearts. I put her into the van and rushed to the vet. It was too late. I think I ran over her neck. Our stories are so similar and just happened 4 days apart. That is nuts. I am so sorry about your cat, I feel your pain. I just wish I could un-run over them both.
