i have a male 4lb Dog he is a year old should i breed him or wait? |

you should neuter him.
if you really want to breed, you have an enormous amount to learn first. |

First, you need to research the background on your pet. There are several faults that chihuahuas carry that will come back to haunt you. Many states are passing "lemon laws" and making the bredders responsible for genetically defective pups.IF your Dog does not have the major genetic faults AND his parents AND grandparents did not exhibit those faults you may proceed to step 2, finding the right female. Be as picky as you can. Not every Dog should be bred. Then, when you have screened th potential female, go to step 3. Call the emergency clinic and find out how much a caesarian section at 3am sunday morning can cost. Put this amount aside, just in case. Then figure another $30 per pup for food, vacs and worming. Add advertising costs. Then remember chihuahuas don't have large litters and ask yourself if you really want to breed your male. Good luck! |
