am i chopped liver now because I have chosen to do things differently? The info on breeding is still good I believe unless somethings changed
One of my goals while being a mod was to make it more of a breeder friendly place however I was not very successful in that.
Back when the leaving of others came about, I almost jumped on the train however I felt as though I could contribute more here, after all they only hear and read what they wish and at least some one every now in then listens to my blubbering. It really gets under my skin for some one to complain about this site selling Puppies but takes full advantage of the forum it offers. Maybe Im not coming off as clear as I wish

is if there are NO OPINIONS from REAL Dog BREEDERS on these forums,

Real Dog breeders.... what do you think qualies someone to be a "real Dog breeder"

Does the fact that I no longer breed and I never bred mixed dogs make the years I spent breeding somehow less important? Does the fact that I only bred two sometimes three litters a year make me a non real breeder? I was never a Show jock although I did finish several dogs. Does that make me unworthy to give advice?

I'd really like to know. I put my info out there for you to judge so whats the verdict BB? In your opinion is there anyone on this board besides you that is worthy of posting?

Thank you all for giving your opinions.
I was quite upset at the time due to the things that happend at the last show, I didnt get to show because something went wrong with the entry and she didnt get in even though I paid, it happends.
I have always taken any chance to improve myself and have been quite nieve on several things and I wasnt sure if this was one of them. I said I would do just about anything to get a chance for this and well, Karma is making me eat my words I guess.
It may not be the greatest way of doing it but I can get a good foot up because of the standing she has in the dane world. Her unablity to help and expect more than Im ready for really threw me for a loop. I have issues with people, strange places and crowds so the last thing I can handle is having allot of pressure put on me, but I will find a way to deal and get through this, I always do.

Natural Dane, never have ever had a problem with you. I hope you were not offended, and no I don't think you are chopped liver. You are a good person.

And NO OFFENSE to the other mods, but it was evident that you did you best to make sure the rules were truly followed.

Again, no offense to you personally. I was talking in general, not specifically, and yes I do enjoy the post of several others, and I do think the forum is 'better' than it was in the past.

I'll tell you what I've often said -- when you're a breeder, what you DON'T breed is just as important as what you do.

By definition, anyone that plans and carries out the breeding of two dogs is a Dog breeder, pure and simple. Of course, it doesn't mean they are knowledgeable and/or responsible. But someone who has bred one litter may very well be more knowledgeable than someone who has bred 30 litters. One is not more "real" than the other.

i have to differ with you....anyone who breeds a Dog is not a Dog breeder....anyone who punches someone is not a boxer....anyone who drives a car fast is not a race car driver...you get my drift im sure...i would think the definition of a good Dog breeder would be someone who has dotted their i's and crossed their t's and has done massive amounts of research...who has learned massive amounts of info from their vets, other breeders, readings, and loads of learning...about proper nutrition, care, clenliness, illnesses or ailments and how to treat them...etc...i would imagine any professional Dog breeder should know what to do at any given second and has the knowledge, medications on hand and how to use them and what they cover...how to care for the Puppies properly...and we are just touching the tip of the iceburg here..now we can get into the many things they need to know about their particular breed and what is good and what is not...and then go on into genetivcs...etc...they should know massive amounts of information and the experience to put it to work...be open for more info and learning at any given second....integrity...ethics...education...references...this is a very important undertaking...inexperience promotes bad breeding and suffering...so...no...everyone is not a Dog breeder just because they have a Dog and allow joe blows Dog to hop on it...

Anyone who plots the breeding of two dogs and carries it through is a Dog breeder. I didn't say that made them a good one. You went on to define a good breeder but my point stands. A breeder is someone who bred 2 animals, period.

I thought this was supposed to be about showing and possibly being taken advantage of in regards to related time and expense.
