Yes there is such a breed I have 2 male mini boxers. They are now a little over a year old they look like a Boxer but are 28lbs one is brindle one is fawn. They play like a Boxer which I have a male brindle Boxer as well. I could never own any other dog..
They are all great with kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are those the mini-mixes? The ones that are basically boston/Boxer mixes? Or are these true mini AKC boxers? |

No, theres really no such thing as a mini boxer, there are smaller than standard boxers being bred to create these "mini" boxers but as of now there is no breed club or proper stud book to make them a type in the breed as a mini Poodle or schnauzer would be. I dont doubt they are great dogs, and Im glad they are doing great with you kids, and I wish I could say that they are being bred by ethical breeders however that would be a lie. |

My Boxer girls range in size from 50-65 pounds. Some boys can get up to 75-80 pounds (I don't have any males).
Some people feel that is just too big for an apartment or small home. I have often thought that a smaller Boxer would be a great thing. They are my favorite dogs, I love them.
Some people think, well just get a Boston Terrier, close enough to a small Boxer, but they are two completly different dogs as far as attitude.
Obviously, if I breed Puggles it would be pretty hypocritical to completly hate those that breed mini-boxers.
I would just never personally use any of my Boxers for a cross breeding at this point. |

Bb, Im kinda in limbo as to how to understand what you have written. Though I dont agree on the puggles i "get" why you do them. However are you meaning that you cant give a neg. op on the mini boxers or that you would consider breeding them if the demand was high for those as well? If so I dont think I could ever 'get" why you would do such a thing to a breed that you are striving to improve just because some one thinks they want one. They can get a at limits small Boxer and if they are not happy with that then they should look at another breed so I see nothing more than money to be a motivation to breeding "mini" boxers. Now, if some one really wants to do this then their is a right way to do it but its not the cheap way. |

Lol, reread what I wrote there, I said I couldn't hate them for doing something that I do in another breed.
They are not my competition. People looking for Champion Sired Boxers are not looking for mini Boxers. A big 'DUH' to you. Lol.
I don't consider most of the breeders that advertise on this site to be competition because they are offering apples to oranges. |

I have thought about a line of smaller Boxers and I don't think that is a bad thing. I wouldn't want ALL Boxers to become 'mini' but like Poodles, it would be great if they could come in more than one size.
I have thought that since I had Boxers. That doesn't mean that I have or would intentionally try for smaller Boxers. Though I have a couple very well bred girls that are on the slight side. There are Champion males that are also small for male Boxers.
When I go to breed my smaller girls (which both are young and have not been bred yet), for their SAFETY I am going to try to use as small of a Champion Stud I can find-- which they are out there, I know of one off hand, and likely that will create smaller Puppies. Not 'mini', but just on the small side of average, and still well bred Boxers. |
