That is outrageous. Find a new vet. If they believe in giving shots, they will not put it off for a month on puppy shots.

Outrageous? What is outrageous is that this 9 week old puppy has not been seen by the current owners vet.....Thats outrageous!

You need to find a vet who will see this puppy ASAP and get those shots started ASAP. For future reference.....If your current vet is that busy, you need to schedule future visits well in advance.

I have a lot of dogs and probably am in to a vet office between 1-5 times a month, depending on what I have going on. So, I am a bit unusual compared to most of the posters, but I use 4 separate offices.

My primary vet, and my second choice vet are both the only vets in their practice. So if they are on vacation or have a busy schedule I have to go elsewhere.

My third choice vet office is actually closest, but I find the front desk staff annoying, and they are the hardest to get in to.

You do have to call sometimes weeks in advance and I find that annoying. I think it has a lot to do with the inefficiency of the office staff, because they have 3 vets, more techs and they don't see as many pets as the other vets I go to that only have one vet in the office.

My fourth choice is not bad but they are the furthest away and are the most expensive. They don't take any appointments though, it is first come first serve, and you can always get in same day.

I also don't mind calling ahead and asking the prices for procedures for any of them (as in I do price shop, because I 'trust' all of them to be competent). There is no rhyme or reason, but the same procedure can be drastically different from one office to the next.

I always encourage people to 'call around'. Thankfully in my area, no matter what I do not have to EVER go to an emergency clinic. My two primary vets will do emergency after hours as long as they are not on vacation.

shots are given at 8, 12, & 16 weeks. did the breeder's vet give none?

do not take your puppy anywhere & don't allow any visitor's into your home - there is to great a danger of parvo
