My Boxer puppy Duke is 10 months old. I have a few questions. We have been feeding him just regular purina puppy food. I am trying to decide weither to switch him to Science diet or Pro Plan ? Also he is extremely ticklish! You can't hardly pet him past his neck his leg will go four hundred miles an hour is there anything we can do for this i truly would like to rub his belly and stuff? He grins you know that silly little Boxer grin but for the sake of my blood staying in my body i cant pet him his leg will rip you apart going so fast! Even if you just lay your hand on him. I noticed a few nights ago while he was sleeping in my bed that i couldnt even put my hand on him his leg went nuts??? |

What does his skin look like? He ,may have a skin allergy caused by diet. Purina is one of the foods that uses alot of corn and animal by products to boost it's CRUDE protein level. Corn and most by products( which are cancered tissues, feet feathers beaks lips eyes, etc.) are not digestible.I would also not reccommend science diet or especially nutro for the same reason.( see posting on Nutro products) There are several cereal and by product free foods out there.Change him to one of them and I think you will see a marked improvement in his coat and a lessening of the scratching. ... I am assuming he does not have fleas... |

All though I would love to see all dogs eating raw, for a kibble the chicken soup for the Dog lovers soul is priced about the same as pro plan and is a holistic food, the reason I like it so much is because it has several protein bases (meat sources)and i think the first 5 ingredient is those meats.
I have dirt on pro plan, I used to feed nothing else and my dogs looked great, but looks can be deceiving.
A food should have no corn or wheat, Im not oposed to the meat by products because they are all parts eaten in a natural diet but should not be a main source of meat in the diet. With your puppy its also best to have him on a normal non puppy food diet that has no more than 26% protein since hes a large breed dog. |
