My family and I just adopted a 9 month old hound/terrier mix and he will not poop in my yard. He will poop in the neighbor's yard and in my house but not within the confines of our own yard. Any suggestions on how I can encourage him to poop where he is supposed to? |

There is a product made for spraying on newspaper to attract the dog, possibly that or take him to the furthest part of the yard or front yard if you have one. Most complain about the Dog not respecting their space, its kinda odd to hear one doing it too much. If nothing else, clean up after your pet and your neighbor may never know |

Pick up the poop, put it in the yard and lead your Dog to it. When he smells it say "good boy/girl" and give a treat. Do this every half hour on the first day. Sounds like a lot but it works. Keep it up, remember the praise and treats. |

as much as you can take him to the same spot in the yard.agree with putting the poop in that spot if he smells that maybe he will get used to the idea that is the place to go.also LOTS of praise.make him think that what he just did is the greatest thing since sliced bread. |

Thank you all for your help! He finally went in the yard this morning but hasn't since. How frequent is normal for dogs to poop? I am too nervous to let him out of my sight because I am afraid he's going to go in the house again. I have never owned a Dog before so I am totally ignorant to what is considered "normal". |
