Our Australian shepherd (eight months) shares a very large yard with my daughter's lab(eight years old) - the lab lives next door.
For the past few monthes I have been struggle with the Aussie eating the lab's fresh poop. I keep the yard clean but if the lab poops the aussie runs to eat it.
WE used Forbid but it did not work.
The aussie pup knows that I disapprove so he gulps it down before I can clean it up.

Keep the Aussie on a leash so you have control. Let them in the yard to potty seperately. Scoop the poop right away after they go. Hopefully your pup will outgrow this habit. I've heard some have resorted to putting a little tobasco sauce on a turd to correct the situation.

We have had the same problem with our little chihuahua. The vet told us to sprinkle a little meat tenderizer on her Dog food at each feeding. He said the enzymes in the tenderizer react in the gut to make the poop taste really yucky (I know, what could possibly taste worse than poop?!?!) We did this faithfully for about 2 weeks and it really worked. Good luck! |

I also went through this myself and tried the deter similar to the forbid which I believe are both similar to meat tenderizer, when I compared the ingrediants. I decided to try the deter as I would know the correct dosage. It didn't work for me after using for 2 weeks, and gave my dogs a nasty smell. I now just pick it up at the time of deposit and figure it's only twice a day give or take, and use redirection with them and it seems to be working, but I may get the tabasco out if this nasty little occasional habit doesn't end. |

First reaction when I read your post Yuck!!! Then realized that sometimes my puppy does the same thing so I can not talk. I just took My Dog to a training class. |

Yes it's not something one likes to admit. My husband says to the Pom, "How can such a cute doggie do that" I was shocked when I first saw it but we have it pretty much under control. |
