Garlic has shown now to be toxic to dogs fyi.
theres nothing you can do for his coat much past crossing your fingers, its not going to cause him any real harm but it will not grow back the way it was.
Deflea is a product I like to use, DE like you use in your garden but human grade is another natural alternitive.
Frontline is not, in my opinion worth buying, we had a huge problem and when the natural methods where not cutting it I used frontline first and without results, then I used K-9 avantix and within a week we where flea free, for other people probably a couple of days, last summer i had 10 cats and many Dog rescues. |

All you can do is hope for the best I guess. I have seen a few people say shaving the coat didn't ruin it, and that it grew back to its full glory. I have no first hand knowledge. Some Poms never have the correct coat from the get go. You can come back and tell us whether he ever gets his full double coat.
Frontline Plus has always worked for me. Of course this was with dogs who were already flea free. We tried Advantix with our Golden Retriever and he had a bad reaction and got a skin rash. I then heard others saying thier Dog also got a reaction from it. I'm not saying all will just what happened to us. |

I wasn't quite sure if you meant they got fleas before or after they were on FL.
are you sure you were applying it correctly & getting it down onto the skin & not just on the fur?
it would take a lot of garlic to harm the Dog but the yeast may cause gas or yeast infections of the ears & skin.
if they are that bad you may have to be very aggressive in treating the house & yard

also, for in the home such as carpet, not the actual pets borax will safely kill fleas in the carpet and furniture, that was a tip from last year from another poster. |

poms and any spitz breed should NEVER be shaved. The coat acts like an insulator for both cold and heat.
i agree with others..if you do use frontline or any topical flea medicine make sure your putting it on the skin rather than the fur. |

If you have cats DON'T use Canine Advantix on your dog. The substance is toxic to cats and tyhey can get sick from having contact with yuor dog. This is what my vet told me. |

thats if your cat sleeps close to or grooms the dog, all of its toxic no matter which way you look at them. Its not just the advantix Out of 10 cats here, none had any issues, but then again its not like they are best buds with the dogs either. |

All I can say is what my vet told me. You can use Frontline or Advantage if you have cats but not Advantix. Lots of people read this forum. It would be tragic if someone read a post, used Advantix on their Dog and one of their cats got sick. I have 10 cats too and although they stay away from my puppy, my puppy will sleep on the couch and later my cats will be on the same couch. Why risk it? |

Fleas are NASTY! you need to treat the inside of your huse, your car and your pets. If you have alot of stray cats or squirrels coming by, put out a feed dish and sprinkle some sevan dust around it (NOT IN IT) so they will get dusted for fleas too. You just have to keep at it. When you go to the Dog park, use a fabric softener towelette on you Dog befor you go to repel the fleas that might be there. As far as your dog's coat. Too late! it will not grow back the same as it would have. He's a pup so his perminent coat has been compromised.Sorry! Best thing to do IF and when it grows out is use a wire slicker GENTLY on the coat and acomb to keep the undercoat thinned. Good luck! |

Calm down and breath. Do not get so worked up about this. Hope for the best. I doubt that there will be anything wrong with your darling baby as ypu called your Dog or puppy. |
