I'm going to be purchasing a Basset Hound Dog soon. I would like to know if there's a big or any difference in the training of the breeds male or female? Any info would help me --
Thanks Dave |

I personally find females easier to train, but if the group responds to this you will see its all a matter of personal preference |

I believe training is all about the owner and has nothing to do with the sex of the dog. IF YOU invest the time and energy needed to properly train your Dog it will be housetrained. :) Having said that you are buying a breed known to be very hard to housetrain. Restriction and frequent trips outside are a must. IF you work outside the home you should hire someone to come over several times a day while your at work to take the puppy out. Housebreaking starts as soon as a puppy hits your door so be perpared. Have everything you need before the puppy comes home.
With this breed, its important not to play with the puppy more on days one and two than you will on days four and five. It has been my experiance that this breed can have some separation anxiety issues.
Basset Hounds can be wonderful loving and fun dogs and I wish you the best. |
