I have a 3 yr. old Chihuahua named Bella and she is the best Dog ever. My wife and I are moving to a new house and decided to get Bella a friend. We ended up getting a Bichon Frise. Both dogs are female and the new Bichon just loves to play. Bella on the otherhand is not liking her too much and shys away from her and runs away. Will it just take time for the two to get along or is there anything that I can do to help them love each other? My wife and I do not force the two to play with each other we just try to let nature take its course but Bella puts her tail between her legs and gets very scared. Bella is bigger than the new Bichon and that is why I don't understand why she is so scared of the new puppy. If anyone can help me out with some helpful info that would be awesome. Thanks for your time. |

unfortunately i don't think there is whole lot you can do.sometimes dogs just don't like each other.but letting nature take its course is the best thing.as long as they aren't being aggressive with each other that is positive thing.maybe the bichon is a little too frisky/playful and your other Dog is intimidated.patience is good ,just keep trying.good luck |

Maybe these things just take a little time. But on the otherhand maybe you shouldn't let them be together so often. The new addition who likes to play will probably upset the Bella and get herself inot trouble. Do what you can to keep the peace. |

It will take time for Bella to adjust to the changes that have occurred. I do recommend supervision over Bella and the new puppy. dogs think so much differently than humans do. Just because Bella is bigger doesnt mean that she wont be afraid of the puppy. |
