I haven't had the bigger breeds, but I start by putting the collar on. This can happen as soon as possible. Once used to that I put a small leash on and let them get comfortable, but watching CONSTANTLY to make sure Dog doesn't get caught up....Then walk proud and the Dog normally follows, at least with the smaller breeds I have had..Have you ever seent the Dog Whisperer on Animal Planet? Very great advice for walking a pup, it works....That show has taught me a lot.S |

We have always had bigger dogs and the rules we followed was as soon as possible put them on a leash but only in the yard, never interact with others until had all the proper shots. It was just to get them use to it, never let it on for long. It was part of the fun and training process. |
