if it seems like she is trying to resist so much that she is choking use a harness.sometimes that will help.try and be patient with her on a leash.if she has never been on a leash before it will be natural for her to resist it.if you can at all don't yank or pull her .try starting out with the "come" or "with me" command.keep walking with her and give little tugs to start out with.maybe even little training treatsto get her the idea that it's not such a bad thing.as she gets more used to the leash reduce than stop the treats .good luck |

Start walking around the inside of your house with treats to coax her to follow you, even if she only moves a foot, lots of praise, then move to your front yard, then the sidewalk and so forth. You want walking to look like something fun and rewarding. |

let her wear the leash around the house provided you are right there to be sure she doesn't get it hooked on something.
that will get her used to it without any pressure from you
obedience classes will help you learn how to train her |

Put your Dog on a leash, sit on the floor and allow her to walk away from you, when she gets to the end of her lead, start slowly drawing the lead back to you in a hand over hand motion. Give the "here" command once and then follow with good girl, good girl as she is getting closer to you. When she is to you act like she is the greatest thing ever and she did it all by herself. Allow her to walk away and do it again. If she lays down and won't walk away than you move and repeat. Always praising her when she comes in your direction. 10 minutes a day for seven days and she'll learn to come while on a lead. Then you can start with walking on the lead. Stand up give her the command "walk" and then praise, praise, praise. Make walking with you something fun to do. Seven days at ten minutes a day and she'll be walking on the lead.
Good luck. |

obedience class or a trainer will really help alot, also another great leash idea is the head leads they go over the dogs nose kinda like a horse rein and work pretty well on pullers they do not in any way hurt a Dog like a choke chain or prong collar but remember to only have it on the Dog when you are on the other end of the leash training |

The head halter is marketed under the name of the gentle leader it is an excellent tool. Also the Sporn no pull halter is an awesome way to get control without negative corrections. The main problem with Beagles and walking on leash is getting their head up and having them watch you when you are walking. They are hunting dogs and they like to sniff. You chose when they stop and sniff. Work on your attention lessons with lots of positive reinforcement for the proper behavior. They are just like we are when we are learning....if we don't pay attention we cannot learn. |
