i dont know if i can do this...it scares me...chicken..what about the bones?? do the dogs eat the bones too...the entire thing?? uncooked..simply give the dogs the raw meat...bones and all??..we have a lot of hunters here...and my standards drag in the bones that are left behind...you should see their teeth...perfectly clean and white!! they are not young spring chicks anymore...but i do know that this is what is keeping their teeth so nice...i must learn more..but with 7 standards..how could i possibly afford to do this...we are now spending...11.00 per day to feed them...5% of 55#S is...just under 3#S per day right?? it would take me 21#S to feed them daily....i dont think i could find any raw meat for less than 1.00 per #....i did go down to the butcher and ask for scrap beef of which he saved for me...i picked it up and i got 60#S for 6.00...but...here is what happened...it took me about 4 hours to trim it all up...when i got done..i might have been lucky to have 5#s of beef..the rest was all fat..and rinds....i do not know if this could be done with 7 standards...what do you suggest????? i did make an attempt to pt together my own Dog food and it simply didnt work for me...please let me know if you think there is a possible way for me to do this with them economically.... |

It doesnt surprise me that the name got edited that i posted, its ok for an advertisment for a food to be named as long as i dont do it.
I know people feed whole kennels of Danes and large dogs, Im feeding 3 now but have fed up to six. You can go to packaging companies to buy the chicken even cheaper and others but most want you to have a wholesalers licence.
as far as the bones, you cant feed meat without bones or your Dog will not do well at all.
http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd61/deskidsncritters/100_0670.jpg This is a show Dog that I handle eating raw, now, as much as the breeder has invested in her do you think if there was something harmfull about it she would feed it chicken bones and all? its cooked bones that are the problem. Please read www.rawfed.com myths section
this is a pup im raising on raw. http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd61/deskidsncritters/100_0692.jpg |

Oh please... No one is picking on you ND. Using the name of a Dog food in conversation is one thing, but You posted the website address where they are selling the food, which you know full well is not allowed. |

so if this hadnt turned into a more of downer on the food it wouldnt be advertising and promoting the food? it might not be a wellness but its really all in the same as if some one googles the brand guess what, it comes up here as well as any where else so in my eyes its the same thing.
so what do you think of blue ridge beef? |

Your post was edited because the same post showed up more than one time. This sometimes happens to all of us. I just took out the extra post. :)

.49 cents a lb at wall mart for chicken quaters, 20 cents a lb from the packaging place, you just have to look, i think the rolls of organs from blue ridge are a great buy because its hard to find different organ meat sources that you need, i spend $6 a week on it for three danes. |

Moggie: If you don't feel comfortable feeding bones then don't do it. There is more involved to feeding raw. This takes more research than just giving your dogs chicken backs. Raw food companies spend millions on formulating various raw food formulas to include different proteins. Most are almost impossible to replicate. If your not on a shoe string budget I advise against feeding like this. Do some research before you dive in or you'll make your dogs sick. Please beware that everyone has their own opinon of what should be fed. I personally fed raw but neverr give whole bones. Boswer |
