shar pei's are well known for skin problems.
what exactly are you feeding them?
you have done blood panals on at least one of them I would think - ruling out a health concern |

First, start your dogs on a hypoallergenic diet like the sweet potato diet( I will try to find it in my notes) and add a suppliment specifically for skin like the missing link. Next, the dogs losing hair on the feet and stomach or do they have hot spots all over? The swiffer wet jet has chemicals in it that are TOXIC to pets. They say they reformulated the spray but I would still worry. If they have hot spots all over it is probavly a food allergy. Many dogs are allergic to grains and soy. The manufactures say the food is X % crude protein, they never say digestible protein because if they did you wouldn't buy their food. Chicken by products are 100% protein but are actually less than 2% digestible.( Feet feathers beaks and intestines)Digest of beef is the stuff between mouth and rectum....ie cow poop! And it doesn't matter what you pay if it is going to make your Dog sick. Check your pet for fleas. Some dogs will have an allergic reaction even to one flea. Try not to use too many chemicals on your pets for fleas. Brewer's yeast in the food and penny royal or eucalyptus oils will repel fleas. Some dogs also do well with a fabric softener sheet being rubbed all over them to repel fleas and ticks. If it isn't something in the diet, or environment, it could also be thyriod( blood test) or glandular. Good luck! |

I have a one year old shar-pei mix. He never had skin problems until about 10 months of age. He takes prednisone but the vet also had us switch to a hypoallergenic food. We use the sweet potato. It has only been a few months but he is doing great now. No problems at all. Good Luck |
