I wanted to know if American Staffordshire Terrier is same as Pitt Bull, AST is a AKC Dog but do not know about Pitt. Thanks |

I am also a bit confused. It could be because different registries call breeds different names.
For example, most people know what a 'jack russell' is. Well AKC just started registering them and they are calling them Parsons Russell terriers.
UKC does not call them parsons, but separates them in to subcatagories of Jack Russel Terriers and just plain 'Russel terriers.
All are very similar dogs if you ask me. |

An amstaff and a pit bull are very similar, almost the same. It just depends on if your homeowner's insurance is anti "Pit Bull". A pit bull is a breed developed to fight in the pits against another animal; usually a dog, bear or bull. That is also what the amstaff is for. A bit of trivia! The first "pit Bull/ amstaff was Petie on our gang. |

The first "pit Bull/ amstaff in the US was Petie on our gang. He was good with kids, cats and other dogs. So much for the Vicious pit bull theory. They are usually very nice dogs. |

actually depending on whom you speak with - a pit bull is a mixed breed dog, which most are - it is a Dog bred to fight in the pits.
they mix in mastiffs, rotts, AB's, anything that will bulk them up. |
