Hey,well I'm moving to a house with a small yard and I'm thinking about getting a dog. I need a Dog that can survive being alone in the house while I'm work. There is also a cat in the house. One of the main things I want from my Dog is for him to be able to relax with me in the bed or in the coach while watching a sports game or something after a long day of work. I kno a British Bulldog would be a good fit. I was wondering if there are any other dogs that would b good? |

Before you even consider getting a Dog ask yourself a few questions. Are you willing to spend at least 5-6 hours a day with your dog? A Dog is a pack animal and YOU are the pack. It is not fair to the Dog if you are going to leave him alone all day and then ask him to come in and sit quietly by your side while you watch tv.Unless it is a very old Dog AIN'T HAPPENIN' If you are still stuck on getting a dog, I would recommend getting 2 so they can at least keep each other company when you are away all day. Stay away from most of the terrier breeds as they are very smart very active and will get into trouble with out supervision.Dachshunds are a good choice. They do not require alot of grooming, are small enough that a small yard will do and do not require alot of exercise like a large Dog might.Somne do tend to dig as they were originally bred to hunt and kill badgers. Schnoodles, miniature schnauzers, poodles, pomeranians, American Eskimos would also be good choices as long as you commit to daily grooming and professional grooming expenses every 6 weeks.AND as long as you get 2! You might consider getting another cat instead of a Dog if you don't have the time for a dog. Cats don't care as long as they are incharge. Good luck! |

If you do not have time to devote to an animal, especially a dog, then DONT GET ONE! dogs are by instinct pack animals and not loners. you will also need to train your cat to adjust to the Dog which it sounds like you have no intention on doing. if you only want to spend time with an animal when its convenient for you then you are selfish and undeserving of any animal companionship! |

i don't think she was hinting at all about the cat,she just mentioned it.are you reading between the lines? it does say she is going to spend time with the Dog just maybe not as much as you or some others but as much as she can.so if she doesn't deserve a Dog (according to you) than the Dog she maybe would have gotten can just go to the pound right? |

eww, mali, dont be a female Dog (the bad kind). monkeyc is right, while pounds are not heaven it is sad when people are neglectful of animals, this leads to detrimental effects on the dogs phyche. seriously, anyone has the right to give info. to someone but calm your attitude. im sure your Dog must not be happy living with such a crabby lil girl |

my Dog is very happy with me.maybe you should be the one to calm down and not put judgements on people you know nothing about.i just simply stated that the person was giving the Dog as much time as she could and isn't better to give the Dog a loving home than to maybe have it euthanized at a pound or living in a cage the rest of it's life. |

Chihuahua is a good lap Dog who doesn't need that much exersize but wont do as well left alone for a long while but its a good cuddle buddy too. The Chinese crested is a good small Dog who does good in apartments or small house and does well with other animals, and is friendly and easy going Dog who doesn't need barely any exersize.the Entlebucher is easy to groom, easy to train friendly and a good watch dogs. the French bulldog can live in an apartment it doesn't need much exersize, friendly and loyal to one person.
well i hoped that i helped out and i hope you find the right Dog for you!!! BYE!!! |

I'm not sure what type of Dog you should get ( A smaller lap Dog would probably be best but continue your research because some smaller breeds need allot of exercise) My suggestion is to get two dogs so they can keep eachother company while you work. good luck! |
