Well, after a long road of crate training my baby, Kina, is finally sleeping out of her crate at night. We have tried it out for almost 2 weeks now and there have been no accidents! She won't even leave the bed until she sees me getting up, and even then sometimes she lays there until I say "Let's go potty." Even with my husband getting up for work at 3AM she won't move.

Only thing is we have found she is a bed hog! We have a queen size bed and she will lay with her head up against me and her back legs stretched out against my husband. She may not be that big of a Dog but she sure knows how to take up enough space.

Just had to share my happy news. It's so nice having a furry snuggler! LOL

i wish my Dog slept the way your Dog does! my Dog is a mini daschund and is meant for going into pipes and catching and killing small animals.

so yes my Dog does burrow way down by my feet. he does not attack my feet though. instead he licks them, until hes falls asleep. i feel like a just came out of the shower except sticky. gross but cute. hahahahahahaha

Well, We got her in May of 2006, so almost 2 years. It seemed like forever to me but it was worth the wait. We do still keep a gate up off of our living room so all she has access to is the living room, dining room and our bedroom. And she does still get crated when nobody is home. I'm still unsure of letting her have free reign without anyone here to make sure she doesn't get into anything.

Thanks everyone!

Hmr...whatever you do, don't rush it. I'm sure you don't want to have any little "surprises" for you in the morning. We waited here until quite a long time after Kina was accident-free all day before letting her stay out at night.

First off I must say congrats!! second of all hooray for Iowa and for you to put up with the cold... HAHA I moved to California from Iowa 3 years ago and got a miniature pincher shortly after, I ALWAYS let her sleep with me and she did just fine with that, she is a little over two now and I still keep her in the crate when I am gone, I tried for like 2 weeks to leave her out and noticed there where a couple of little messes, she was paper trained really well but now that she is older she doesn't use them, I now got her a little sister this year and she is just the opposite, I tried to sleep with her too but she has made a mess twice on my bed so she has lossed all rights to sleep with me for now LOL I must say though she is VERY smart she will potty EVERYTIME on the pee pad and I think the whole reason she messed on the bed was that she couldn't get down... anyway just thought I would share, I think every Dog is different (just like kids) some kids time out works and others you have to ground... I wasn't either of those kids I needed a paddle LOL anyway all dogs are different and I LOVE their different personalities!!
