Why do you or your family want a dog?

We want a German Shepherd because I got one a few weeks after my mom passed away and she was such a joy to my life and my kids life, very smart, bright dogs. Best dog I ever had, at age 12 she passed away and it has been a month. Even though I can't bring Cocoa back I would love to have have another, they are very smart dogs and protect when needed. Perfect for my kids.
