Why do you or your family want a dog?

We've had a Westie, and 2 Maltese as my two boys were growing up. I still have a 26 year old son living with us who is the owner of the Yorkie. I just lost my second Maltese 3 weeks ago and my other Maltese two summers ago. I am amazed at the unconditional love they give and the pleasure they bring to a household. I am not ready to be pet-free by any means and have more time to spend with a puppy now than I ever did.
