Why do you or your family want a dog?

I would like a dog to go running with me in the mornings. I previously had a Jack Russell Mix that could jump high and did tricks. I loved him. My cleaning lady let him out one day and he was hit by a car. It has been 3 years and I think I am finally ready for a new best friend. I am looking specifically for a Jack Russell or Jack Russell Mix I love their energy but would not mind a calm temperament also.
